owner of the place and it is estimated that the total loss will reach 2000 the clr fire was well under way when the department part ment arrived on the scene annie the infant daughter of elder matthew noall died yesterday afternoon at following its mother into the unseen world it will be remembered that the babes mother died in march last since which time the little one was cared for by its grandmother elder noall has the sympathy of many friends in his affliction together with his family he returned from a four years mission to the sandwich islands in 1895 shortly afterwards several of his children were stricken down with scarlet fever and one of them george died then came the death of mrs noall a widely respected and lovable woman and now last of all the death of her babe is running between here and american fork the front axle of the rear truck on the right side of the smoker broke just before reaching the sugar factory pulp switch letting the truck down it struck the crossing throwing the truck off the track which ran off to the south until it struck the bridge timbers over the creek which threw it over to the center of the track it was dragged along this way for about half a mile tearing up the ties in great shape the couplings at the ends of the car held it up so no one was hurt but the occupants were badly shaken up and frightened after about two hours phy physician was called but was too late to offer any assistance the deceased leaves a large family to mourn his sudden demise among his sons are william bri bradford adford principal of the jackson school and if G L bradford bradford late principal OI of L the school his wife who survives him also came to utah in 1847 oneida ida republican on sunday morning about Ws mrs cora maughan wife of james Mau maughan magilian ilian and daughter of F L and jennie wilcox of this place passed from this sphere of action into the great beyond at the age of 28 years the cause of her sickness and death was typhoid fever mrs maughan was a lady respected and beloved by all her acquaintances quain she leaves a husband three children father mother three brothers two sisters and a host of friends to mourn her untimely end the funeral services were held in the preston meeting house on monday afternoon at 2 and a large concourse of sympathizing friends attended who were addressed by bishop W C parkinson elders C ca C west westley becksted and johh larson presidents george C parkinson and sol H hale all praising the good qualities of the deceased and saying words of comfort to her relatives and frein ds the remains were followed to the cemetery by a long line of cles 0 the death of mrs elizabeth jones cutcliffe only centenarian to Is announced the end came at the home of her daughter mrs james bertoch at pleasant green yesterday when the venerable lady gave up the battle of more mare than one hundred years and sank peacefully into the rest which will be unbroken and undisturbed until the great resurrection awakening mother cutcliffe had been a conspicuous figure at the old folks gatherings for years and was always kindly remembered by the committee at the celebration in june last she was the object of special care and attention being the only centenarian in the tate state she was driven to port fort douglas in a handsome carriage over which waved a beautiful american flag the aged guest of honor was warmly welcomed by colonel kent of the twenty fourth united states infantry and was sent home with a happy heart and contented mind recently it became evident that her days in mortality were numbered and she went to reside with her daughter at pleas ant green the deceased was born in the parish of county of devonshire england in may 1797 she was the mother of fifteen children thirteen of whom preceded her in their departure from this sphere of action to the world beyond on four occasions she gave birth to twins her living descendants ts are two daughters eighteen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren she was baptized into the church of jesus christ of latter day saints in 1851 and came to utah in 1865 1866 and settled in salt lake city where she in big canyon both men had emptied their guns into bruins hide without fatal result and being at close quarters mcdonald grabbed the bear by the hand legs and herris by the ears and down the steep hill they rolled together the bear recovered himself first and suffering from the loss of blood made for the timber leaving the hunters to gather themselves together undaunted they went out saturday and succeeded in killing the escaped bruin several others have been seen in that vicinity milard progress reps the land commissioners and state engineer are here for the purpose of making a general examination into the feasibility of the lake aake bonneville project and also to examine the merits of certain protests that nave have been made against the big irrigation enterprise by local people the commissioners will have finished their examinations by the night of the dinst the state engineer young will remain in this section indefinitely making a detailed examination into the plans of lake bonneville people and checking up on their claims as to the amount of land to be irrigated by them the quantity of water to be impounded and such other maters of interest to the state cesary decesary ne to be known prior to the final adjustment of the project the protests against the lake bonneville company will doubt les find and amicable adjustment the most important protest is that of the white hansen had just bought a hay baller and placed it in his stockyard tor for the purpose of baling the men from ram whom he had bought it had started it to work in order to show hansen how to use it several bales had been run through when he stepped upon the baler to feed and as the horses were going a steady gait he tried tred to push the hay down with his left foot in connection with the fork but for some cause of other he over balanced himself and did not get his foot nor the fork out in time before the plunger came back the consequence was before the team could be stopped a broken leg ind and the fork was all ah smashed had not the team been stopped his leg would have been taker entirely off dr robertson was called and made the unfortunate man as easy as pos tafe ale under the circumstances A farewell party was given in riverton commercial hall last friday night in honor of elder niels nielson Nl elson who departed depart dd for a mission to europe saturday day morning at 7 sad death of the deceased john marshall a miner aged fifty six years was found dead shortly after daylight this morning at theresi the resi dence of william fowler 86 85 grape street marshall had consumption and was FL a county charge kept at the fowler home the family heard him get up about 3 and go out on the back porch but supposed that he had returned to his room but it seems that he was seized with hemorrhage hemor rage and gradually bled to death undertaker joseph william taylor has charge of the remains and will forward them to Co alville marshalls marchalls Mar former home tor for burial he leaves a divorced wife and nine children one a married aughter who resides at coal ville the long pending negotiations between the officers of the oregon short line and the salt lake los angeles which contemplated the transfer to the latter company of the utah nevada road and the garfield beach property and the building of two lines of railway one from saltair to ophir and the other from the tintic gintic terminus to deep creek came to a satisfactory conclusion at an important conference held at the knutsford hotel this morning there were present at the conference of the short
