The Rerthana was tho scene of the most brilliant event of the season Tuesday evening, when the ninth annual charity ball was given under un-der the auspices of the Martha society. Nearly K0 persona from Ogden. Salt Lake City. Logan. Brigham and other cities attended the (unction. Amons those present from Salt Lake were Governor Gov-ernor and Mrs. William Spry and the members of the governor's staff, with their wives. The guests were received at the mezzanine landing by Mrs. A. D. Kubn and President Mrs. James H. Spargo, and other officers and members of the society received in the reception recep-tion room. The grand march was lei by Governor Spry and Mr. James H. Soargo and John N. Spargo and Mrs. Spry, followed by more than 150 couples. A luncheon wns served in the banquet room and during the evpnir? mineral water fruit punch was served at the fountain on the main floor by the attaches at-taches of tiie Weber club under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. Richard E. Porter and Mrs. W. C. Wright. Music for the programme ' of twenty-six dance numbors was fur- t nlshed by the Lillian Thatcher enlarged orchestra. At the Maids and Matrons' club Monday Mon-day afternoon a musical and lireiary programme pro-gramme wr.l be given, followed by a lea. A pretty church wedding took plao at the Church of the Good Shepherd Wednesday Wed-nesday evening at S o'clock, when M :ss Marv Watson Abbott became the bride ! of Robert Derry Corlett of San Fran cisco, the Rev. W. W. Fleetwood performing per-forming the impressive ring ceremony. The bride was given away by her father, fa-ther, James W. Abbott. As the bride and her father entered the church her favorite selection was played by Miss Loui e Pierce. The bride was attired in s white charmeuse and net gown and wor a long veil, heid in place at the head by clusters of orance blossoms. Instead In-stead of the conventional bouquet, she carried a beautiful white prayer book, from which were suspended lone eteam-ers eteam-ers of white ribbon, knotted with bride roses.
