Show MASS NOMINATION MEETING. Amass meeting of th" citizens of Salt Lako county was held in the j Tabernacle' yesterday afternoon, for the purposo of nominating candidates for the various offices to bo filled at tho August election. Tho meeting was called to order by mayor Wells, and on motion tho hoo. Elias Smith was elected chairman ; and T. McKean, Paul A. Schattler, R. L. Campbell, and Alexander McRao were appointed secretaries. Tho chairman briefly stated tho object of the meetiog, and announced the number and kind of offices to bo filled. On motion that a committee of nine bo appointed by the chair fo. present nominations, the following gentlemen wore named said oommittee : D. H. Wells, J. M. Bernhisel, Lot Smith, Thomas Taylor Reuben Miller, llosca Stout, E. S. Cram, J. R. Winder, D. Brinton. While the committee were out, the hon. W. H. Hooper was called for, who took tho stand, and made a brief speech. He referred to his lengthy service as delegate to congress, during which he had endeavoured faithfully to serve his constituents, and had felt honored in the confidence which they had placed in him. He said he did not present himsolf for rcnomina-tion,Aas rcnomina-tion,Aas his health, his business and his family assooiations required that ho Bhould retire, and ha hoped they would send a man who would be a faithful representative of the people religiously as well as politically, and in conclusion bid his consitucnts good bye politically.
