Show I ASSEMBLY HALL CONCERT Edward Benefit Was An Artistic Success and Wellattended The complimentary concert to Ir Lizzie ThomasEdward at the Assembly Assem-bly hall last evening drew an audience that very comfortably filled the hal I And a pleasing programme was presented pre-sented a satisfactory one neither too I long nor too short and made up of numbers which appealed to everyone Of course all the old favorites took part Mrs Edward herself Mr hlrself was never in better voice and in both her solo Ardltis waltz song 1 Bacclo and her duo with John Robinson she sane in her old charming way and was most enthusiastically received W C Chive a violinist who Is rapidly making himself known by his masterly handling of that difficult instrument replaced Willard Weihe on the pro gramme and his two selections won him much applause The first a mazurka ma-zurka caprice was one of his own compositions and Is a most creditable work He rendered it with great spirit and force Miss Judith Anderson the child contralto con-tralto surprised the audience with the depth and fullness of her voice She sang Bartletts A Dream and as an encore gave Last Night Save for a tendency to waver and quaver In her notes both selections were beautifully sung George Pyper sang Dudley Bucks The Silent World Is Sleeping In his usual fine style Tom Ashworth irave When Thou Art Near and Willard Christopherson sang Dauberts Spirit of the Deep A quartette composed of Messrs Ashworth Kelson Patrick and Christopherson Reveries rendered Storchs |
