The cry was used for Richard Speck because he had been caught and was kept for trial. But for Charles Whitman, the ed killer in Austin, Texas, the news media went wild crying murder. The noticeable difference in the two cases is that Charles Whitman was killed and not caught. Almost everyone figures since he is dead it wont matter if the news media calls him a killer. We can see that it wont affect his trial. But who is to say? The community there and the other people concerned are affected. Hence, I submit that perhaps the news media should change its ethics in these cases. Should it be allowed to call a person a murderer simply because he is dead? German Nazis May Be Concern Of Future (by MIKE MITCHELL) The cries of Hiel Hitler, and the thunder of the goose step, seem to be the fears of the past, for a Germany that has suffered through past wars. In recent developments in the last West German election, a new known party as the National - Democratic Party gained a substantial number of seats in both the West German States of Barvaria and Hessa. Because of the par- tys extreme rig- ht wing policies, it has been tagged as a Neo-Na- zi party. The National Democratics have a nationalistic appeal to the people. ' There main ob- jective is the reunification of the country. ' To say that nationalism and a reunification of country is bad, is wrong.. But, on the other hand, it is also wrong to try and obtain these objectives as Hitler attemped in the 1930s. West Germany is a country Never before of prosperity. in all her history has she had it so good. As a country prospers, she wants to be soverign. In most cases she wants to gain power, and a voice in the world that she is part of. The National Democrats have tried to offer this to Germany, but their pol- -' icies do seem similar as to Hitlers attempt. It would be underestimating to say that this doesnt mean anything, if you recall the middle 1920s when the rest of the world was underestimating Hitlers start to rise. Germany is a country to be concerned about, because she holds the key to Europe. |
