Show v WESTMINSTER COLLEGE Volume 5 Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah, March 13, 1959 Number 7 MARDI GRAS TO BE HELD SATURDAY NIGHT WSWV Mexican Dinner To Begin Festivities On March 14 the Sigma Pi Alpha of Westminster College will present its 12th annual Mardi Gras festival. Students, friends, and faculty will all come in costume carrying out the theme of, Fun the Foreign Way to celebrate this gala event of the year. A Mexican dinner will begin the fine events for the evening in the student lounge at 6 p.m. The Spanish classes will prepare the delicious spicy enchulatas, frijoles, and all the gamishings while the male members of the classes will serve the guests. Bordering the gymnasium interior will be an array of colorful booths sponsored by the different organizations and classes on the campus. One example of what a booth will be selling is the French booth which will sell such oddities as old books, rare flowers, pastries and fruits. Entrance at the doors, which will open at 7:30, will require a small fee and at this time of admission, votes will be cast for the King of Mirth. All candidates for this title must wear a costume and so must his date . Opening the colorful floor show coronation of the King of Mirth and he will invite his girl to join him on the throne to reign as his queen. The following boys have been elected as candidates: French classes, Stewart Hansen; Spanish classes. Bill Bywater, German classes, Dave Farris; junior class, Alan Tratos; senior class, Bob Losser; Stevenson Society, Larry Alemoni; Campus Y, Lynn Young; Young Demos, Chris Beck; Ski Club, Ron Griffith; A.W.S., Duane Clark; I.K.s, Dean White; womens dorm, George Ieromnimon; mens dorm, Clyde Robard. will be the Organizations will present the various floor show numbers representing different foreign countries. Judges and guests for the evening will be Dr. Wilcox, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Church, and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Peaks. This group will award the contrasting prizes for the faculty as well as the students, after the Grand March of all in costumes. Former Professor Marks Birth Of Son January 9, 1959, marked the arrival of a son for Mr. and Mrs. Melvin H. Day. Mr. Day was formerly an instructor of chemistry at Westminster College in 1954 and 1955, while Mrs. Day, then Marcia Johnson, was house mother of Ferry Hall. The Days, who have a daughter, Cynthia Belle,' have named their son Roger Stanley. Mr. Day is presently teaching at Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey and he and his family plan to return to the U.S. in the summer.
