According to a memo from President Chareles H. Dick to his faculty and staff, Gershowitz has resigned his position and will "seek new career opportunities" as of Sept. 30, 1988. Gershowitz will remain on campus during the transition in his new Foster hall office. Baar will keep the position of Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty for the fiscal year. During the year, Dick and Baar will reassess the position and decide if the position should remain unchanged or be modified. Dick said it is quite possible the position might be broken Into two entities. By Monica Gothard The Associated Students of Westminster College recently appointed Mike Conger as Interim Chief Justice, but is still without a Treasurer. The position of Chief Justice had been open since September and the position Treasurer since May. Conger replaced Renee Hall who resigned in early September. Hall left Westminster and went to Seattle to start a business, according to Heidi Smith, ASWC secretary. Congers position is temporary because the schools constitution states that the Chief Justice must be elected by Westminsters student body. Thus, Conger will fill In until a formal election is held, in approximately six weeks. According to Mike Hansen, ASWC president, now that an interim Chief Justice has been appointed, the officers will soon name a person to replace Brent Kcown, who was elected Treasurer last May. Kcown was unable to accept the Job because he had a conflicting schedule with his Job. leader for the position. He felt Baar was much more suited for the Job. Baar has been with Wesminster college since 1971. Gershowitz said, "In an Institution such as this, administrators will have a shorter stay than faculty members. That is a fact." He also stressed the fact that his resignation was voluntary and went on to say that not very many students got to know him but he "has enjoyed them and has held high regard for them." Gershowitz had no comment concerning future plans. He stated that when he feels the time Is right, he will disclose his plans. Dick stated In his memo that he aprreciated Gershowitzs "abilities and contributions during his term." Baar will also continue as Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences during the interim. The delay in replacing the Hansen stated, occured treasurer, ll, - because appointing a Chief Justice (even a temporary one took precedence over appointing a treasurer.
