Show ASWC Election Winners for 1988-8- 9 Hall wins Chief Justice Election Razzeca comes out on fop By Jennifer Killian In the election for Vice President. Rick Razzeca came out on top. enabling him to represent the Associated Students of Westminster College throughout the 1988-8school year. His main responsibility lies in the planning and organizing of all social events of ASWC. Razzeca, who is currently a sophomore, feels that many possibilities for activities are out there and hell have to see what the new year brings before he makes any definite plans. Renee Hall will oversee the election process and devote time to the Interpretation of the 9 Michael Hansen reflects on next years presidency Hansen defeats as a write-- in By Jennifer Killian Michael Hansen started out as a write-icandidate in the primary election, where he accumulated enough votes to enable him to run as a candidate in the general election. In the general election, he pulled together enough votes to overcome his two n through include more informal dances (stomps), a masquerade party on the Heber Creeper and a casino night. The new Vice President is working towards a bachelor's degree with a triple major in aviation professional pilot, aviation business and general business. He wants to get an M.B.A. and eventually become a executive for a major air carrier. Because Razzeca Is at the school all day each day with extra time on his hands, he decided to run for the Vice President position. "My new position will give me learning experience as a manager and I think it will be I like to be a lot of fun. said Razzeca. involved in social events. Hansen also works Katsikathas moves into speaker position -- By Jennifer Killian The election for Speaker of the House for-t- he Associated Students of Westminster College brought Vasi Katsikathas into this position for the 1988-8- 9 school year. In this position. Katsikathas will act as liason between legislative assembly and the executive cabinet. The Speaker of the House works closely with the treasurer for budget approvals. Legislative Assembly is in charge of the bylaws and approves appointments to various offices. Katsikathas hopes to run legislative assembly more smoothly than it has been run in the past. Lots of clarification throughout the year will be needed to attain the best possible benefits, according to the new Speaker. Iwant the members of Legislative Assembly pre-medici- and the studentbody better informed about what's going on." said Katsikathas. She feels that by working closely with the Executive Cabinet, she can make Legislative Assembly members more aware of whats going on. and at the same time, bring the members views to the Executive Cabinet. This will keep an open level of communica- as a representative of the students at a state the Utah Council of Studentbody Presidents (UCSP) and the Utah Intercollevel in legiate Assembly (U1A) . Hansen, who is currently a junior, chose to run for President because he felt that whoever holds the position should have prior experience and know somewhat what the job entails. Due to Hansens job as Treasurer in the executive cabinet this past year, he felt that he had that experience. "I know what needs to be done and I know realistically what ASWC can do." said Hansen. His major plan for the upcoming year is to make the cabinet work as a team and get things accomplished, not just talk about them. She wants to see past problems corrected, such as ambiguities among government members. The only way to solve the problems effectively, according to Hail, is to stay ahead of the problems. We shouldn't sit around and wail for problems to arise." said Hall. We should do things beforehand to prevent problems." Hall, who is currently a sophomore, hopes to open the channel of communication to students through her involvement in campus activities. She'll also be around campus all the time if students want to bring problems or solutions to her. Halls goals involve getting a good education in order to become a veterinarian. She is majoring in and in with her main business, minoring emphasis on business thus far. Because of a desire to get involved. Hall decided to run for the position of Chief Justice. Hall attended the University of Utah, where the size overtook her and left herwitha lost feeling, for a year before transferring to Westminster. Katsikathas plans to work in one of the previous areas after graduation. Three majors and a minor are what Katsikathas is working towards.
