Show sports Coi?dimF .Lfcs IBacL, Plaes AHnead EBtFamiaFaJl Editors note: This article and the accompanying schedule were submitted to the Forum by Intramurals Coordinator Elke Ilaussman in an attempt to further educate the Westminster community on the offerings of the current intramurals program. After getting off to a slow start, the intra- mural program had quite a bit to offer this fall semester. Coed club volleyball started in September and one team represented Westminster. This team did quite well, and through the coaching efforts of Bryan Fong will do even better next semester. Intramural volleyball started Oct. 2 and ended with a tournament on Nov. 15. The seven teams playing were: Kegs to Go, first place; All Stars, second place; Wet Dreams, third place; M.A.N., fourth place; Hansens Hangovers, fifth place; Climactic Crew, sixth place; and CRUSH, seventh place. The winning team received Westminster Intramural Volleyball Champions which they wear with pride. Flag football attracted only two teams this year, probably due to the late time of year it was offered. Although 23 people were signed up 15 managed to play in the first game on Oct. 31. The second game on Nov. 7 was played by four males and one lovely, good quarterback for both teams, Angie Russell. This game was much more fun than the first game due to the snow. For those of you wrho copped out because of the snow you missed the time of your life! Nice maroon-colore- d shirts were given to those playing in this second game, also. We had some excellent former University of Utah football players as referees. Despite our loss of players on Nov. 7, a team did represent Westminster at the Flag Football State Championships at Brigham Young University on Nov. 1. Witha little more practice, and" strategy ahead of time next year we will do even better. In conjunction with the U of U. we had five students from Westminster participate in a single elimination tournament in racquetball. Even if they lost, their participation in this tournament allowed them to purchase an all campus recreation membership pass for the quarter at the U of U for only $7.50. This procedure is explained in detail further be- Payne Gymnasium. Please call Elke Hauss-manintramural coordinator, at 4 or 3 for any questions or information. Aside from the above activities, we have regular open gym and weight room hours. These hours will change a little next semester so keep your eyes posted to the gym and weight room doors. All students, faculty and alumni should pleaese bring their Westminster I.D. or membership card to use the facility. Weight training instruction is also given upon request. Appointments can be made with the intramural coordinator. Aerobics may also be offered in the late afternoons Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Keep an eye on the intramural activity board.
