Show k SALT LAKl: CITY, UTAH VOL in. NO. 2 fkJitche& mA ' Help Fire! (TAV Hide SIGMA PI ALPHA Oh, shut up and go to bed will you. You know its only 4 A.M. in the morning. What do you mean theres a fire? Cut out the wise cracks, I want to sleep These were some of the comments, a couple of weks ago at around four oclock in tie morning when a fire really did break out in Foster Hall, the mens dorm. Everyone thought it was some sort of a joke (like the week when some of the girls came to serenade at three in the morning, but when they stuck their noses out their doors and smelled that smoke, and in fact couldnt even see across the hall, they knew then that it wasnt a joke. There was a fire. (I guess this is a pretty unique even in the history. of Westminster College.) Anyway, most of the guys didnt seem upset about the whole thing (until they were fully awake,- that is). Of course some of the fellows didnt eyen" wakeup, they slept right through the whole thing! Oh, yes, the men of Foster Hall were a pretty sight to see all standing outside with various odd things . on (anything they could grab some guys didnt grab too much) Even Mr. Gunn was there amdist the excitement Why Foster Hall was .at stake gad! a fire! One fellow stopped halfway down the stairs and turned around and ' Virol back to get his wallet and. his wristwatch. ,He didnt have on any shoes or socks or though. Another guy stopped to fully dress himself and was sure to have his shoelaces tied properly. One guy jumped out his window lucky he lived on first floor! To top it all off, after the five fire trucks had got there, put out the fire, and then turned on the fans to draw the smoke out, some guy, Spence Weither, wandered out in his pajajmas with a real sleepy face and said, Whats happen-,in- g. Of course he only lived next door to the room where the fire was! Well, hes slow that way and he really must like his sleep! About the fire really it was a minor one. One of the mattresses in a vacant room on the first floor caught fire and was smoking like , well Jou know what I mean. That mattress caused enough smoke to rouse up the whole dorm. We of Foster Hall have to thank our Head Residents wife Mrs. Nielsen she reported the minor catastrophe. Some will well remember in the years to come Fire in Foster. be-befo- STARTS TRAVELING C-2- 2. & re - . ... $ UNITED AIR LINES .. E. Goodwin A.
