Not only is it useless, but actually offensive in that it not only fails to accomplish the desired result, but generally obtains the opposite effect. First, the offender is saying to his associates, I am an immature child in that I cannot face slightly difficult or unusual situations with calm com- posure. Second, I myself have no better vocabulary with which to properly express myself, nor do I possess inner strength of character and per- sonality sufficiently powerful to persuade my associates. Regrettable instances of this degrading habit may be heard as one wanders leisurely through halls and listens to the abusive language inflicted upon associates by some students . . . Any person, whether it be parent, teacher, or student, who speaks to his fellow men with anything less than respect, reduces himself to the level of the clod, shows his true colors and loses the respect of the ones he is trying to impress. Basketball Coach Howard Richardson, reported that a point system will be devised whereby at the end of the program, the class with the most points will be presented with a trophy. The point system will include: points for enticing, for the winners, for second place. Points for individual activities will be less than for team activities. The activities, as time permits, will be a bridge tournament, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, possibly skiing and softball. These activities will be centered on the amount of interest shown. Whenever possible, the activities will be mixed. That the program has already started is evidenced by tfye amount of chess playing in the lounge. It is urged that all students to look over the activities and then participate in the one that will best help their class. All basketball teams must be registered by classes so that practice can start. This was the result of our annual blood drive. Although short of the 100-pigoal, the drive was considered a tremendous success by campaign manager. Kip Stratton. Kip reported that 20 per cent of the total studentbody gave blood. This was an increase of 11 per cent over last year. Westminsters students should be capable of doing better than this, and next year we will again have the chance to part with some liquid. Members of the Red Cross staff gave their thanks to Westminster and said if one of our students needs blood, it will be immediately available. nt life-givi- Here there star, Up in the sky.
