Show FOITMUGVI Letter from the Editor in its look and in its content. It is a goal of mine to have this paper not only be a source of news for the Westminster campus but also a forum for debate. This is, after all, the students newspaper. That is why I am asking you to contribute to The Forum any suggestions, or editorials you may have. You dont have to be on staff to have your voice heard. The changes to The Forum didnt stop when we sent the first issue to the printer. We believe with help we can mold this paper into a I hope many of you noticed last week, The Forum went through a type of As metamorphosis this summer. Gone is the familiar masthead, the old fonts and styles are no more. This Forum is . new and improved for your reading pleasure. Addie and I set out to create a look that would grab your, the readers, attention. We want this paper to be bold, September 74, 2005 strong publication that people crave to read every week. When making the new look we didnt just choose fonts willy-nillit was with y, great consideration that we came up with the design you hold in your hands right now. We even pulled aside random, sometimes unwitting, students and asked for their opinions on the changes we were making. After all, what is a paper if no one reads what it has to say? You are the secret ingredient to mak- ing The Forum a success. As the reader you are an important part of The Forum staff. Dont mess with us you can get killed dead, physically dead. the same quote paraded on Westminsters Web site that I began to feel nauseous. i Not only was Dederich savvy with words, he was also a cult leader from the 70s. lie founded a drug rehabilitation group called Synanon, whose unconventional, commune-lik- e design soon evolved into a cult- choose such a sickeningly cliche quote? I noticed that the Web site credited Charles Dederich for the quote, and decided to find out a little more about the man behind these profound words. were intimidated and beaten. In 1978, Dederich was charged with at- - tempted murder for planting a four-forattlesnake in a Los Angeles lawyers ot mailbox. Personally, I dont think it was a wise PR move to associate Westminster with this sort of person. When subpoenaed during the case, Dederich allegedly said, Dont mess with us you can get killed dead, physically dead. Wow, another inspirational quote by an admirable man. Maybe that phrase should be printed on the Student Ambassador T-shi- next year. rts |
