Birbiglias jokes made light of everything from religion to rap music to wildlife animals, topics that appealed to a broad range of students. As one of the shows highlights Birbiglia shared with the audience some drawings, cards, and a song, the Counchry (Country) Song, that he created as a child. ASWC Activities Coordinator, Tyson Smith, stated, AS I think that it was a verv successful event. Not only was he a funny comedian, but he was also a really nice gUy Some technical difficulties were no challenge for Birbiglia. He improvised jokes about the situation and interacted with the audience with much ease, contrary to his claim that he had a tendency to make awkward situations even more awkward. Although it was his first visit to Utah, Birbiglia joked about the culture in one of his songs, and liis uncertainty about the dominant Utah religion raised a few eyebrows. Before the show, Birbiglia noted that he w as surprised how beautiful Salt Lake Citv is, but also j expressed his qualms about offending audience members. Because of this, he used a limited amount of vulgarities in his performance. Birbiglia has been featured regularly on Comedy Central, and has been a guest on The Late Show with David Letterman, and The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. e inteljraC eptaitfpiking pro-The- rc sit-and-g- o, all-nig- 'f ht Literary Women Sing.
