Twenty Years of Occupation, was the final event on Tuesday. Laura Reeves, concerted events coordinator for the UN Futurists said, The week was very Informative. People learned a lot. On Wednesday, Jeffrey Davis, a University of Utah Peace Corps representative, discussed why" peace" is part of the peace corps objectives. He gave some background on the peace corps, what theyre doing at the present and what they hope to accomplish in r as well. The first topic of Thursday's lectures was "The Strategic Defense Initiative and Its feasibility," Peter Cornwell. Phd. and former employee of Unisys, gave the speech. He showed the bad points and the Implications ofSDI. Michel Mazzaui, associate professor of hlstoiy of the University of Utah, followed Cornwell with a speech on the causes of the Iran-Irawar. An Insiders look at the conflict in Chile was the next topic discussed by Myrtam Hernandez, a Westminster student from Chile. She gave facts about the conflict as a Chilean. Lowell Turner, chairman of the Utah Committee for relations, looked American-Soviet relations in his lecture. at He looked at the relationship in the past and where Its headed in the future. It shows that people arent just vegetables." On Friday, Robyn Blummer. ACLU executive director, spoke on the position of the ACLU in the national justice system. Next, representatives from various campus organizations spoke for peace. Michael Hansen, president, spoke for the Associated Students of Westminster College. Michael Tielboig, Westminster AI organizer, spoke for For the Honors Amnesty International. LaDawn Symposium Society, Haglund. president, spoke. For the senior class, PattyTeal, president, spoke. Wally Albahar, president, spoke for the International Students of Westminster College. Laura Reeves, concerted events coordinator, spoke for the United Nations Futurists. The final activity was International night held Sunday night. The event was held in the Shaw Center with food and entertainment, which included belly dancers.
