Every year when these signs begin to evolve, its time once again for the Utah State Fair, opening this year on Thursday, September 10 at 3:00 p.m. and closing Sunday, September 20 at 9:00 which performs at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The schedule for entertainment and dates is as follows: The Judds Thurs. Sept. 10 Fri. Sept. 11 Forester Sisters Sat. Sept. 12 Louise Mandrell Sun. Sept. 13 Helen Cornelius Mon. Sept. 14 The Osmond Bros. Tues. Sept. 15 Janie Fricke Wed. Sept. 16 Thurs. Sept. 17 Roy Clark Exile Fri. Sept. 18 The Jets Sat. Sept. 19 Sun. Sept. 20 Crystal Gale Along with the wide variety of exhibits and entertainment, there is also the Miss Utah State Fair Queen Pageant to be held Sept. 9. 10 and 11 at the fairgrounds. One girl from each county will represent that county in the contest and the winner will reign over all the activities of the fair following her coronation and during the coronation ceremonies of the 1988 contest when she will present the crown to her successor. Contestants are judged on overall beauty, talent, intelligence, poise and personality. For more information on fair activities, contact the Utah State Fairgrounds Administration Office at Sylvia first and last day of the fair, the exhibit buildings are open each W ith the exception of the day from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the fairgrounds located at 155 N. 1000 W. in Salt Lake City. The general admission rates (which are subject to change) include $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for children 6 thru 16, and FREE for children 5 years and younger. Auto parking is $1.50. Exhibits range from agriculture to fine arts, and include awards for best exhibits, auctions and cooking contests. Concessions, a First Aid Center and bank services are also available. In the Utah State Fair handbook. Governor Bangerter describes the fair as a celebration of varied interests, talents and accomplishments of the citizens of Utah. The 1987 fair is once again an outstanding event showcasing Utahs best in agriculture, fine arts, crafts, home arts, and commercial exhibits. Major entertainment is provided at $7.00 for reserved grandstand seats and $4.00 for General Admission. Instruction and meetings will be held in the dance room in Payne Gym.
