Jutkins had a 25 point total for the evening, while Prokopis tallied a total of 15 points. February 12 and 13 The Parsons played host to College of Southern Utah and to Dixie. Against CSU the Parsons made what many people considered the best effort of the season, but CSU was just too strong and were able to hang a 63 to 50 defeat on the local boys. The Westminster five were within 4 points of CSU at the half, but seemed to run out of gas as the second half progressed. John Prokopis led the Parson gunners with 12 points followed by Ray Brinton and Dick Jutkins who each had 8. On Saturday night the Parsons dropped a fast, hard played game to a speedy Dixie club. The final score of this game was 76 to 69. Prokopis was high point man in this game with 16, with h x. The first fall of snow in the high Wasatch Mountains found a hardy group of Westminster students off to the hills for the purpose of indulging in the ancient Nordic sport of skiing. Under the very able direction of Coach John Church a number of the skiers have improved enough to enter in competition. Coach Church has been running the team over the harder slopes and through tight slalom courses to perfect timing and increase speed to a degree that the team may bring home some medals and trophies. The team roster finds Tom Llewellyn, Don Muir, and Frank Slater returning to the starting gates. Muir competed in the' 52 races. Slater worked in the conference meets of 53 and the races at Boise, Boseman, Weber and Westminster last year. The teams have been divided into two leagues, which play on Monday and Tuesday night of each week. The competition In the Monday night league seems to be under the leadership of Cicles With Man Flashy Five. Mountain Bradley leading the way. It is Interesting to note that Mike Dakis and Dick Bradley. have mastered - the game so well that they can put on a judo exhibition while playing ball. . The Tuesday night league appears to be dominated by Bill Jamesons gunners, starring two p members, Larry and Bill Patsuris. The high scores of this team seem to indicate that Patsuris has not yet broken the habit of closing his eyes when he shoots. More people should attend the intramural games, because watching these polished performers is better than television. ex-varsi- ty The team roster will be completed by Tom Miller, BobRouth, Paul Amen, and Glen Hewiitt. With this much talent on the slopes the team may prove the Deseret News prediction correct and be a dark horse contender in the conference. The first meet found the team at Flagstaff, Arizona, for the Arizona Cup races held on February 19 and 20. The downhill races were held on Saturday, February 19. On Sunday, February .20, the slalom races were held. On February; 25 the team will travel to Weber for the ICAC meet at Snow Basin.Rounding out the year of competition will be the second annual Westminster Invitations! Meet on March 5, at Alta.
