With some 47 million tons of reserves in New Mexico alone, the stepped up mining of uranium in the next few years will present a number of problems not least of which is supply of miners. It is said that 1,000 miners would be required within the next year to get many of the new operations now scheduled under way. Not only are miners in short supply for the western desert areas, but other costs are correspondingly higher than in established metal districts. These problems have led some authorities present at the National Western Mining Conference in Denver recently to hazard a theory that open cut mining would be practical where 50 tons of waste were removed for recovery of one ton of average (0.25) grade rock. Each sector has its own way of serving the hamburger. In Mississippi, slaw is served right on the 4burger. On the West Coast they like it broiled with Bermuda onion and tomato. In the Southwest the chili burger gets a big call while in New England the favorite is the with onion, pickle and potato chips. Down South it's well done with onions. Ketchup is most popular, mustard second. Some teenagers have tried hamburger with ice cream on top, but we certainly dont recommend it.
