Receipts of slab zinc at consumers' plants were 69,100 tons or 13 percent below the 79,500 tons reported in April. Responsible for this substantial decline were decreases of 6 percent at galvanizing plants, 26 percent at brass mills and ingot makers and 23 percent at die casting plants. Redistilled slab zinc produced at secondary redistillation plants during May was 2,300 tons or virtually equal to the April production. In addition to stocks held at producers and consumers' plants, 7,800 tons of slab zinc were in transit to consumers on May 31.
