Resumption of free trading in lead on the London metal exchange, after 13 years of government control, brought out heavy offerings and the London price skidded to the equivalent of 12 cents, about one cent below the domestic price of 16 cents, even after the import duty, freight, insurance and other charges. Zinc demand was also slower on reports that foreign zinc prices are shaky. Domestic quotations were still split at 13' cents and 14 cents. Copper buying continued active. The meeting of the copper producers advisory committee and officials of the national production authority last Thursday failed to bring out any clarification of tht muddled domestic price picture. Developments on the domesmetal market tic were wetk for the reported as & M. J. Metal and follows in E. Mineral Miarkets: COPPER 24 c, Valley (foreign 34.925c.) Demand from domestic consumers remains active. There are indications that imports of copper from other than Chilean sources will increase, particularly from Europe. Allocation of copper for October will total around 118,481, or 5674 tons less than in September. i.ii!An Sales of lead in the domestic market for the week that ended yesterday totaled 9109 tons, which compares with 5296 tons in the preceding week. With lead again being purchased for the permanent stockpile the price situation here pointed to a steady trading basis for October. Even consumers shared this view. Trading in lead was resumed on the London Metal exchange The sales were yesterday. most traders expectlarger than ed, totaling 4300 tons. The Ministry of Materials offered a small lot at the opening session and established a price of 111 per long ton.
