Royston 500 . . . .... .i . h xBulllon xCirdlff Central Standard t -- Despite strong upward pressure on the domestic quotation of 24c, Valley, there were no outward indications of a change in thinking in Washington. The foreign market was fairly active. Prices covered a wide range, starting at 32c, f.a.s. New York equivalent, and moving up to 36.15c. Sales of foreign copper for the week totaled 19,000 tons. LEAD 16c, N.Y. (f.a.s. Gulf 14 c) Consumer purchases were moderate. Saes in the domestic market for the week totaled 5298 tons, which compares with 5972 tons in the preceding week. Custom smelters have been selling their intake and, there was no pressure on prices. In fact, most operators regarded the immediate situation as firm. An important factor in stabilizing lead prices is the certainty that the government will acquire fair tonnages for its ci vilian strategic reserve. Several lots have been offered to the government and some business has been closed on the 16c basis. Metal offered for the reserve on an average price basis was not accepted. In the measure that would extend the suspension of the import duty o nmetal scrap, Congress has excluded lead. Stocks of lead at United . co-call- eil year. Kith important galvanizing operations down, Prime Western is beginning to accumulate. The June statistics are expected to make a poor showing. Buying has been slow. The quotations was maintained at 15c., East St. Louis, with the ' market unsettled. There was hope that the government would take on additional tonnages of zinc for its stockpile, much along the. lines now being pursued in lead. So far, there has been no official action on such a proposal. TIN $1.21, N. FRC-Bolivia- n QUICKSILVER N.
