Show May 11. 1956 - The Western Mineral Survey. Salt Lake City. Utah Mincona, Inc. School To Open In May DISCOVERY of what is believed to be a hitherto unknown vein at a depth of 3850 feet below Sunshines main adit and intersection of the structure in a drill hole on the 4000 bottom level has interesting possibilities. It could add years of life to the famed Sunshine mine and stimulate a new era of exploration below the present basement in the Coeur dAlene mining regions Silver belt. THE OIL STRIKE at 4700 feet in the Ostermiller area east of Denver in a joint venture with Denver Basin Oil Co. is of more immediate importance to Sunshine financially. It may have opened a new field. Dick McKean of McKean Construction Co., Salt Lake City, contractor for the project, said excavation for concrete work will begin Tuesday morning. Many of the new homes are scheduled for completion before Labor 50-un- it Day. Fred Stoye of Moab is general manager of the Mountainview Development Co. All homes in the new will have three bedrooms, and have been approved for FIIA and GI financing. City officials have lauded the Mountainview project as a major move in alleviating the housing situation in Moab, where more than 400 families now are living in trailers. The town has grown from 1,200 to 6,000 in the last three years as result of the uranium boom. Recent announcement by the Delhi-TaylOil Corp. that the company plans to proceed with development of its potash deposits north of Moab is expected to add still more to the town's population. r officials indicated the company may spend $30,000,-00- 0 on the potash project in the next three years. sub-divisio- such producers will give the company as much income from United States oil as it now is getting from 154 producing wells in the Pembina field, Alberta, Canada. Sunshines small interests in these producers total about 1000 barrels daily. PRODUCTION from the Radon in April is expected to total 4000 tons of ore averaging .32 per cent uranium oxide. Full output of 250 tons daily is scheduled by July. The Radon ore body was discovered by U & I Uranium of Kellogg, Ida., which subsequently was merged by Federal Uranium. Hecla is the operating firm. In the adjoining Hot Rock group, Hecla has two hot holes, one of which tested nearly six feet of .67 ore. POLARIS, Hecla subsidiary, passed a first quarter dividend because of a drop in net profit and costs of an ambitious exploration program .Earnings were $59,262, versus $119,400 in the first three months of 1955. Net current assets March 31 totaled $1,307,289 vs. $1,224,876 at the beginning of this year . . . Polaris is producing 6000 tons of ore monthly from its Silver Summit area with 120 men . . . The new ore body on the 2500 level has been opened more than 120 feet with an average width of 5 feet and average grade of 32 ounces of silver per ton. Two thousand feet of exploration tunneling is planned on the 2500 and 3200 levels in the 59 per cent owned Purim area, in which Silver Dollar has a substantial interest. In the Chester area, a raise is up approximately 100 feet in good ore from the 3000 level and one of four holes below the level has foupd ore . . . The bore into Rainbow ground has penetrated more than 700 feet and is getting n or Delhi-Taylo- An unusual opportunity for men between 21 and 60 was opened this week by an Illinois manufacturer Mincona, Inc. The firm which makes a dry mineral concentrator announced the formation of a school to open May 15, in Marysville, Mont. According to Herman R. Nohr, president, Mincona has begun a $2 million reactivation of the ghost town of Marysville in setting up a training program to develop skilled operators for their machines. The school, Nohr stated, will train about 150 men per year and will teach ore and mineral recognition, assaying technic, smelting and general mining. Men being sought for the program must be in good health, must be bondable and must have mechanical and analytical apti-tur- e.
