Grand Junction Operations Manager Sheldon P. Wimpfen said the station will encourage the production of uraniumbearing ore in Southern Utah. The receiving and sampling plant is located in White Canyon, about 15 miles east of Hite, Utah. Construction of the station started early last month. It will be operated for the A E C by the American Smelting and Refining Co., and will purchase copper-uraniuores, ores, and other ores produced in the area. Ores produced in the area are now being purchased by the commission at Monticello.'Utah, but after the opening of the new station, the ores will be purchased at the White m Canyon sampler.
