The drilling is being done by Minerals Engineering Co. of Grand Junction, Colo., under contract with the United States Atomic Energy Commission. The drilling is being performed under the Raw Minerals exploration program of the commission in search for radioactive mineral deposits. Leonard D. Jarrard, chief of the Butte office of the AEC, which is in the Federal Building, states that though the drilling program is planned in advance, it is flexible enough to allow for drilling of any promising property that may be found in the near future. Mr. Jarrard also says that under certain conditions the Atomic Energy Commission may purchase uranium tearing ores at the railhead nearest the mine. This arrangement may make it possible to profitably mine and ship ore that was heretofore- considered marginal. inquiries concerning uranium mining, as well as samples of the ore, should be sent to the Butte - U.
