The company was incorporated July 12, 1956, with only six ura nium claims, and in an eight month period the company . has acquired 1,160 acres joining the highline canal of Amerada Petroleum companys wells in Mesa County, Colo. Drilling on these properties is now in progress, and the drilling depth of 1,250 feet has been reached as of this date. Depth to be reached will be approximately 2,800 feet. This drilling program shows a greater potential for the Sundown Corp. Location of this property is Twp. 2 N., R. 2 West, idents. The fact we now can afford to hire a full-timexperienced director is another proof of the progress Moab has made since the boom began, Branscom said. Branscom pointed out that since Newcastle also is an oil and uranium mining center, Pimpell is familiar with many of the problems facing the Four Corners country. (Stano-lin- d & Gas Co.) has announced discovery of a new oil pool south and west of Recapture Creek pool in San Juan County segment of the Paradox Basin. This is the second pool opener reported for the basin this week. The firms Martha Featherstone No. 1 was tested in the Hermosa formation between 5,402-5- 4 feet. Gas rose to the surface in five minutes and oil to the surface in one hour and 17 minutes. Flow is placed conservatively at about six barrels per hour, or around 150 barrles of oil daily. There was no water recovered. Some 5,200 feet of fiee oil; 270 feet of mud-cu- t oil and 70 feet of drilling mud was recovered in the pipe following the test. A second test between 5,454-8- 3 feet proved there was no salt water between Hermosa and Paradox. Pan American district offices at Salt Lake City said they regarded the find as separate from the Recapture Creek pool of the Shell Oil Co. That pool, also a Hermoste producer, is about three miles east of the Martha Featherstone No. 1. |
