Show September 30. 1955 Page Three The Western Mineral Survey, Salt Lake City, Utah RANGER AWAITS ASSAY REPORT Uranium Claims Sold In Henry Mountains Samples of Columbian tantalum, taken from the Eagle Nest claims of Ranger Uranium Corp., near Vernal, Utah, give promise of an important discovery, spokesmen for Ranger said today. Ranger officials are now awaiting results of an analysis of samples under way at the Gallagher laboratory, chemist in San Francisco. Spokesmen for Ranger say a sample weighing 134 pounds, taken from the property has oeen concentrated down to 92.8 per cent, at which point the sample weighted 10 pounds The concentrating is a milling procedure. Aside from the Columbian tantalum content, the remainder of the sample was unidentifed rare earth. Raymond Garcia, geologist, who checked the property, said there definitely is a deposit on the claims, but he is unable to determine how large it might prove to be. United Western Works Huge Area New Mexico Bureau United Western Minerals Co. of Sante Fe, N.M., has announced a development program for 650,-00- 0 acres of federal and state mineral lands it holds in New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. Alva A. Simpson, president of the firm, said three rigs are now drilling in a 65,000 acre farmout to three firms in the Grants area. lie also reported that Albu- querque mining engineers Chapman & Wood are making a survey of 12,000 acres held by the company in San Juan County, Utah. Simpson said the company's board also has approved an agreement with Stanolind Oil Co. for exploration with option to purchase on 24,000 acres of oil and gas leases in San Juan County Utah. Moab Mines Montanan Buys DrillingPlans Announced i The Utah Drilling Co. will drill properties in Converse county, Wyo. for Moab Mines, Inc. and a large Denver business interest, William J. Owen announced today. In a joint statement by Sidney Noble, and Albert M. Johnson, president and vice president of Noble and Arthur J. Swanson, Froid, Montana, the purchase was made known. The claims, located in the Henry Mountains at Navajo Point and in the Zion Canyon area, were surveyed by a prominent geologist, unnamed, who reported a substantial channel of mineralization. The geologist said he believes the ore holds promise of producing volume commercial uranium ore. Samples taken from the property, the statement said, are reported to run from .41 to 2.2 per cent uranium ore on the outcrop showing. In addition an exposed channel of commercial ore is reported on one of the Circle Cliffs group of claims, the statement noted. Buyer Swanson said this week that he is now making plans to put the property into early production. Terms of the Swanson-Nobl- e transaction were not made public. Swanson stated that the purchase was made after an extensive study of potentially high uranium producing properties was completed in several areas. A Montana ing pattern would be used on the claims.
