The company entered 1953 completely free of all past indebtedness with current assets of slightly less than $50,000. By the end of the year current assets had been built up to $95,295, President W. M. Yeamen reports. Practically all of this amount was in cash, and current liabilities, or claims against the assets, amounted to only $4468. Metal content of the 1953 output totaled 524,000 ounces of silver, 8 177,800 pounds of copper and pounds of lead, he states. This compares with 369,176 ounces of silver and 20,562 pounds of lead ore-beari- ng IE,-54- in 1952. Net income for 1953, after taxes, was $46,009, the report shows. Prompt copper is moving into fairly tight position, here as well as abroad. A little copper was sold by custom smelters in the domestic market at 29 cents, but the tonnage was too small to influence our averages. The foreign averages moved up on comparatively light offerings. Reports from hCile indicate that production is being cut back to about 21,000 tons a month. The strike at Roan Antelope was of short duration. Lead Demand for lead was quite active and the price was raised cent on two occasions to 14 cents a pound, New York. The upward adjustment was uneven and most of the flat price transactions based in the New. York quotation were booked at the old level before the rise became general. The industry is awaiting word from Washington on details of the new stockpiling program. Business was moderately active during the last week, but not up to the level of recent weeks. The quotation was firm but unchanged on the basis of 10V4c., Prime Western, East St Louis. The March statistics of the American Zinc Institute will show a gain in stocks of 1,177 tons, raising the total on hand to 201,171 tons. - . one-quart- er . a1-- 1 I - 3, 3. sound-absorbin- . ld OVER-THE-COUNTE- R t" from Information obtained from various brokers.
