Publication On Tungsten. - . , To encourage the further development of tungsten minerals in the United States for use in tool steels and armaments, the Bureau of Mines has published a circular describing how a relatively small mill in Lemhi County, Idaho, successfully handled complex hubnerite ores to produce tungsten concentrates. Dr. R. R. Sayers, Director of the Bureau of Mines, said today: t The publication, one of a series to aid the mineral industries in increasing the output of strategic, critical and essential ores, was written by C. M. Dice, assistant professor of metallurgy at the University of Utah, a consulting engineer for the Bureau, and onetime superintendent of the Ima Mines Corporation tungsten mill iii Lemhi County. By combining flotation, and magnetic-separatiothe mill handled 0.5 ore and produccent tungsten per ed concentrates averaging about 67 per cent tungsten, Dice explained. Sulfide tailings from the magnetic separators which were ship- -' ped to a lead smelter Contained nigh percentages of Bilver and considerable copper, lead, and . gravity-concentration- ,. n, zinc. Included in the technical re port are such details as a flow sheet, estimated cost per ton of ore milled, type of machinery used, and procedures followed in overcoming operating problems. Copies of the report may be obtained by writing the Bureau of Mines, Department of the Interior, Washington, D. C., for Information Circular 7230 "Methods and Costs of Concentrating Hubnerite Ores at the Ima Tungsten Mines, Lemhi County, Idaho," by C. M. Dice. .10 .....100.25 Oth the Sale. - 58. .Walker, . . .
