Suppliers' and Prod Been' Stocks Stocks reported by dealers, and auto wreckers, railroads, manufacturers Increased from 18700 gross tons of September 30, 1942. to 12200 tons on Oct. 31, a gain of approximately 2 per cent Thu gain, was aocounted for . by increases In stocks held by dealers and auto wreckers of 29 and 20 pep cent, respectively, with stocks held by railroads showing s decrease of 1 per cent and manufacturers stocks remaining at the Sept. 30 level. The fact that railroads and manufacturers did not show increases In stocks Is an Indication that these producers are keeping their scrap flowing to the mills and dealers yards. Consumption of Scrap Iron, Scrap Steel, and Fig Iron Consumption of scrap In Oct,, 1942, amounted to 4,77000 gross tons, s gain of 8 per cent over the 4,42400 tons used In September, and at an annual rata of 8 per cent above 1941. The data In the following tables are based on returns from, concerns that represent over 99 per cent of the scrap and pig iron coniumed In 1941.
