Many of us fantasize about seeing ourselves on screen, bigger than life. Two youngsters from Murray will have to fan- tasize about other things as they grow older since theyve already lived the dream shared by so many. Arlington elementary students Emerson John and Dominique Gallegos are now reaping the benefits of having been in a movie. And not just any movie. At least in this area, Kieth Merrills Wind-walkhas captured the fancy of family audiences and is reaping the benefits of opening just before the holiday season. The film, based on Blaine Yorgasons book of the same title, is er currently playing at four Salt Lake-area theaters. Friends and total are strangers ap- proaching Emerson and Dominique and commenting on having seen them in the show. Emerson, a Navajo Indian, is the foster son of Ray and Joyce Muhlestein of Murray. He has been participating in the LDS church-sponsore- Tashina as an adult is one of the featured roles in the film, being played by the hauntingly beautiful Serene Hedin. The Gallegos girl is equally beautiful. Emerson plays one of the two young grandsons of the a role filled by veteran actor Trevor Howard. His is a large featured role. One that demanded that he be on location daily during the eight long weeks of film- d Indian Placement Program for two years. He is 12 years old and plans to complete his education in Murray as a member of the large Muhlestein family. A brother, Gary, is living with another Murray family and attending Longview school. The youngster came to the Muhlesteins from outside Gallup, N. M. He is one of eight childen. The Gallegos girl was born in Murray. She is the daughter of Charles D and Amelia Gallegos and is of Apache and Spanish descent. She is 8 years old. Mrs. Farrell had seen Emerson at LDS church functions and thought he might be right for a bit part. No one expected the youth to be selected for a feature role. Dominique was spotted on the playground at Arlington by Flsie Richardson, Mrs. Farrells mother. She proved to be perfect for the flashback scene. In Emersons case, getting parental permission for his involvement took some doing. His screen test was done on the final day of casting, a Friday. Merrill wanted his cast and crew on location the following Monday morn- " ing. That set off a series of efforts to get a message to have Emersons parents call the Muhlesteins. The family lives in an area not accessible by telephone and a number of messages were relayed back and forth until the permission was finally gained. The Gallegos girl was involved in two days of filming at Shelton, near Tooele.
