The whole family threw themselves into the business and soon they had a thriving farm. As the farm prospered the family decided to try sugar beet farming and so moved once again to a beet farm in West Jordan. In 1919 she met and married Fred N. McDonnell and they moved to Garfield, in 1925 when Fred started working at Utah Copper. He later worked for B. and G. Railroad. In 1952 the McDonnells moved to Las Vegas, to a warmer climate for Marys health and Mary still has a home there. Mr. and Mrs. McDonnell celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1969 and Fred, better known as Mack, passed away in 1970. This summer Mary has been spending her time in Kearns at the home of her daughter and Adeline and A1 Casebolt, while recuperating from an illness. For, mark my words, it won't be long before we'll be responding to the power of that week-lonbaptism of feudal Japan, "Shogun." Just look at what happened when we 'recognized' China a few years back. All of a sudden we were wearing Mandarin jackets, claiming a wok as a kitchen necessity, when common sense told us any heavy skillet would work just as well.
