Taylorsville hitting was in evidence throughout the tournament, especially with men on base, many times with two outs. The Warriors opened the tournament with a shutout of Orem last Tuesday, Tolbert throwing a then went on to stop tough Bountiful 7 on Wednesday, defeat Kearns in five innings on Thursday and eliminate Cyprus Friday. Saturday, both teams opened with two runs in the first inning. Taylorsville got started when Kevin Quinn was hit by a pitch, Troy Leavitt doubled, Tolbert hit a sacrifice fly to scored Quinn and move Leavitt to third and Roberts grounded out to bring in Leavitt. "I think our state experience from last year and the fact that we had a deeper bench this time around really helped us, he noted. We went into the Timpview game after having played a very tiring contest against Ben Lomond on the prior Tuesday, but the kids really came through. I couldn't be prouder of them. Judge tied for the league lead in Region Three with Jordan high school in the season just past, having and league lost just one contest.
