I know of at least one school where what was happening in the girls program was the lone athletic area where victory was being achieved. After a winless football season, students were starved for the recognition that was gained when the volleyball team (girls) advanced to the state finals. In Iowa, they still play the girls game. To me it lacks the excitement that the game offers as played here. Yet in Iowa, girls basketball outdraws boys. There were 12,000 people at last years Iowa state girls finals.
