Spectel lo the Times KEARNS-Kea- rns High School students had a very busy week last week. Tuesday was pareniteachers conference. Teachers were busy figuring up grades the night before and preparing for all the parents. There was a good turnout, but unfortunately teachers didn't get to see every parent that they would have liked to. Approximately 28 percent attended. Mr. Stevens, reading department chairman, said, I didnt see too many parents, but I saw some that I really needed to see. 1 felt good about it and have a positive feeling towards parentteacher conferences." The Drama Club performed Flowers For Algernon, Nov. 18. Directed by Wes Nethercot and student director Ann Humphrey, the play was a big success. A few clubs at Kearns have been seeing some action lately. The DECA Club just completed a short stay in Las Vegas, Nev., where members traveled to attend a Western Regional Leadership Conference. Kearns DECA president Scott Kirkham, along with Felicia Gratton, Don Weston, Linda Dunkle and their adviser Edith Robertson, attended two days of meetings at which they discussed leadership topics with 1,300 other representatives from the western states, 210 of which were from Utah. In sports last week at Kearns the wrestling team was picked and is now preparing for the upcoming season. Team captains are Farrell Price and George McQuisten. These two are expected to be among the top 10 in the state. The KHS wrestling team is young, consisting of only three seniors and a majority of juniors and sophomores. This year Coach Glen Kawa expects the team to place in the top 10 at state as well, with Farrell Price expected to place first overall. Also chosen this week were the varsity boys' and girls' basketball teams under coaches Kenyon Clark and Diane Congdon respectively. Good luck and good hopes for the athletes at Kearns High.
