DR. RICHARD Johns, administrator, told the health board that he will solicit the support of the school district in running a survey in the schools to see how many family roles, adulthood and meeting life crises. The presentation was made at the request of board member Alice Griffith who heads the committee which is seeking a curriculum for family planning to be recommended to the school district. Board members will determine later whether this guide will provide an the answer to family planning. the DISCUSSING implementation of the fluoride tablet pilot program IN in four Davis County Schools, Dr. Johns said State Dental had issued a Association which was not statement supportive of the pilot fluoride tablet program. Dr. Dan Benton, president of that association and a member of the Davis Board of Health said the statement pointed out that organization favored fluoridation of the water system and the administration of fluoride tablets in the home in preference to the dispensing of tablets by the teachers. Dr. Benton said he assumed the association had been affected by the Utah Education Association (UEA) statement which disapproves of teachers administering the fluoride tablet program, rk October at State Utah in the Festival, only Also associated with the Festival is an original verse workshop to which entrants may submit their own works for discussion and criticism. this year dealth with the works of women poets, and read either individually, in duo, or in Interpreters Theatre style. 14 received recognition. The survey, which will be a one time thing, will attempt to determine what percentage of children have been immunized for these diseases, with the goal of seeing that ultimately 90 percent of the children in Davis County are immunized for these diseases. DR. JOHNS said he does not feel this goal is unrealistic since immunizations for Davis County children have almost reached the 90 percent level for diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus and polio. He said the push will be to reach the same level of immunizations for rubella and mumps. Since 36,5000 children must lie surveyed, Dr. Johns said volunteer help will be required. He estimated that it will take a month to send home the surveys and get the statements from the parents. He said he had met with the womens medical auxiliary and had received a pledge of support from that organization. He also anticipated that PTA organizations could be enlisted to help with the projects. DR. JOHNS said that the survey would probably result in heavy callins to the clinics so that parents could correctly fill out the forms. In the past, the Department of Health had not kept a record for each child who received an immunization, but regulations will require such record keeping in the future, Dr. Johns said. Well just have to accept the credibility of parents, when records from the Board of Health are not available, he said. Vi Color-keye- d Come on in, compare. interior, standard.
