It is high time that our representatives in Washington get busy and do something with taxes, high prices, and howr far we are going with our foreign policy. It is high time that the political parties stop making a political football out of taxes and high prices and stop passing the buck and placing the blame on the other fellow. From what I hear and see, party platforms and election promises for the coming election are not going to elect congressmen and senators. The voters are fed up on promises as to what is going to be done. This Congress, now in session, has a chance to take care of these problems before election. The faces that will be seen in the halls of Congress after next election are the ones that face our domestic problems of taxes and inflation and do something about them right now. Flowery promises as to what they are going to do will never win them a seat. If I do not miss my guess, the voters want something doneto reduce taxes right now and get prices down where the average man with a family can live up to our established standard. One of our good citixens remarked, that his pay check was just no longer large enough to take care of his family and keep his government too. How true. We are told that government income this year will be several billions more than last year and still we have men that advocate raising taxes to stop inof Amerflation. I wish, these would be icas progress, would sit in on the picture as I see it every day. They would suddenly change their mind and decide that the dollar must buy more and that government expenditures mus be reduced. We have been promised a cut in government spending for a long time and now the possibility of the largest budget ever for the coming year. Talk and plenty of it. IIow about a little more concern, back in Washington, over the welfare of the people back home and not so much concern over politics? Party politics has its place, but this is neither' the time nor the place, when we are in such dire need of prompt action on our economic future. I hope Congress and the President wake up to their duty to the American people. Enough said. Well folks, we have two more new business firms in town, just south of Dicks Service Station. A new Beauty Shop and a Sheet Metal Plant. Both are welcome assets to the growth of Layton. Nice folks too, that have placed their confidence in our town. Drop In STANDBY SALMON.
