The game, swift when the olficials would leave off calling fouls, was considerably slowed up by the thirty-eigfouls that were called. Personal fouls were seven on each side the rest Were technical. So technical was Umpire Cushman that almost every spectator was completely disgusted with his work. Davis High started with the whistle anil ran the visitors off their feet with nine points to one in the first few minutes of play. Ogden soon got going, however, and obtained the lead. A little later Davis tied the score by some clever foul throwing, after which Ogden forged into the lead by nearly ten points, winning the first half by eight pointy and the game by a like number. The final score was 31 to 39 The game was no great example of skill, the new rules occasioning so manj fouls as to slow the game almost to a standstill. 1ove for Davis did some splendid playing, while Thomas of Ogden was the star man of the game. This scrappy little right guard threw fifteen fouls out of twenty-thre- e tries, as well as accounting for two baskets. This is the first time the Ogden High five has beaten Davis on the letters floor. ' DAVIS HIGH ht UTAH. le or ilay. A warm railroad depot on a bitter cold night means nothing to him. Ogden High school students to the number of sixty or more left the Davis High after the Friday night and went to the depot to await the arrival of the north bound 10:08 car. Perhaps the excitement of winning the game was more than they could stand. The gang proceeded to wake up the neighborhood by playing football with the garbage can, littering the floor of the depot with filth. A no smoking" sign was torn from its fastenings above the ticket window. Little heed was paid to the awakened agent until he appeared on the Beene, possessed of a .45 automatic, which at once seemed to command some respect. HIGH TEAM D The sympathy of the enure world goes forth for the thous. mourning ands of the city of Washington, the scene of the worst theatre horror since the Irquois theatre fire in Chicago in 1903. Over a hundred humans from all parts of our country out for a night of pleasure, were m soon dug from a mass of fallen debris, dead and dying. Many more were injured and crippled for life. How Strangs are the fates, the Ways of the world, for the wanderings of mankind lead us into many strange Man erects a structure endings. wherein he chooses to seek his pleasure where thoughts of the rest of the world go by. Is it not strange that these very palaces of joy should turn upon their builders and bury them under tons upon tons of dust, cement and steel girders. The falling of the roof of the Knickerbocker thatre in Washington can be ascribed to the turning of the great wheel of Heaven as easy as to anything else.- So fell the Roman empire and so were the mummies dug up from their beds of dust to testify in their awful Bilence to the truth of the saying: Dust thou art, to dust retumest. Dust ia a vital part of our existence in this world. The lungs inhale it with every breath; it flies on the wings of every wind that blows Were it not for the dust laden atmosphere, nothing would be discernable to the human eye Ahat was outside the rays coming direct from the sun, and a dustless atmosphere would mean no twilight, no dawn, for with the setting of the solar body the blackness of night would settle upon us instantly. Finally the ever present dust envelopes us, even as it did the Egyptian mummies. Theatre horrors are chronicles in history as among the very worst calamities that overtake mankind. The crowds on pleasure bent are usually from all walks of life and from all parts of the country. But what man builds up, time and accidents pull down.
