On Saturday of last week E. G. King, principal of the Layton schools, met with an accident which painfully injured hia right ankle. For several days the Injury was treated as a sprain and he continued to discharge his duties in the schools on crutches. The injury steadily grew more painful and swelled to alarming proportions. Finally the physicians were called in and It was decided that the member had been fractured. Yesterday morning, after the swelling had been somewhat reduced, the injury was treated for fracture. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Weaver. The State road between Layton and Kaysville is in a most horrible condition. At least eight automoble springs have been broken on this piece of road during the past few days. What the condition of the road will be now that winter rains and snow" have set .in, can only be conjectured. The road has the appearance of being strewn with boulders covered with slush and mud and the sensation when riding over it is about the same. Attention of the State Road Commission has been repeatedly called to this piece of road by prominent residents of the county who have set forth that concrete is about the only material which will insure a good road, but aside from temporary Tepaira and. grading, no action has been taken to It is, indeed, remedy conditions. strange that the most important road in the state should be allowed to remain in such condition when thousands f dollars of state -- money is being spent on out of the way highways.
