Get busy farmers and On March 4th, Clinton the Dramatic company, undeKthe able management of J. T. Burnett, presented the play Farm Folks. To say that the play was a success would be putting it mildly; triumph is the better word to use in this case. Taking into consideration the fact that all of the company are beginners in the1 business and all are very extended be should young, praise to every member for the brilliant way each member handled his or her role. Les Mortenson and Mary Fraiser who played the lead, Phillip Burleigh and Flora Goodwin, respectively, made a very enviable showing. They handled their parts remarkably well, while Ray Mitchell, Hazel Bews and Naomi Burnett kept the crowded house in a continual uproar by their portrayal of the comic side of the bill. They were exceptionally good, Laura Parker as Mrs. Burleigh, played her heavy lines in a manner that many more experienced played could t have done. Vera Stewart as Grace, won the house at once by her clever acting and sunny ways. Luther Fraiser and Sarah as Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin, played their roles in a very pleasing" manner. Ellis Burnett, as Dave Weston, the villian and Adrain Taylor, as Thompson, the butler, both did commendable work. Mary Feut and. Emma Barton proved very valuable assistants in the ladies dressing T rooms. To the Relief society belongs all due credit for the fine dinner which was served between the matinee and evening performance. The consolidation was agreed upon at the meetings of the companies held in this city Committees had been appointed to prepare the propositions which had been submitted to the shareholders of both companies, and the assets of both companies invoiced and the valuations passed upon. As a result of this work it was decided to organize a corporation to take over- -! he holdings' of both companies. The new company will be known as the Kaysville Canning Corporation and will have a capitaLstoekof $100,000. - The capital stock of the two companies which have been consolidated was $25,000 each, and was largely held by shareholders in both companies. The inventory showed that the Kaysville Canning- company had the most valuable asset and a reputation for superior packs, having been in the business many years, and for this reason there was ademand forits product, where the product of the newer plant of the' Davis County company, was unknown. Besides the plant the Kaysville company was the owner of many thousand dollars worth of Davis and "Weber county canal stock, and this asset went into the consolidation. In this connection it is well to explain that this water has much to do with the superior quality of canned goods sent out by the old Kaysville company. This is an irrigated country, and without a dependable water supply it is impossible to produce first class This vegetables for canning. water is held in reserve for those who., are. growing --vegetables-and fruits for this company, that they may have an ample supply of water-a- t the critical time in the season when the drowth sets in. This water will now be used by the new corporation among the farmers who grow for both the canneries. The basis of the consolidation KAYSVILLE. HOSPITA- L- to-giv- |
