The water level tn most of the reservoirs is expected to be about average with very few exceptions. MOST of (he streams in the area are expected to be high and roily tor the opener, therefore, most fishing activity will occur on the reservoirs and streams regulated by impoundments. Big Sand wash Reservoir: Located just east of Altamont, this water is expected to produce good fishing for the opener. The reservoir is almost full so boating activity will be available. A large crowd is expected because of the conditions of the streams in the area. Some large rainbow trout can be expected out of this reservoir. Limited camping facilities are available. Brough Reservoir: Will be stocked with rainbow catchables prior to the opener Brough also has a population of smallmouth bass which probably won't show up much in the creel this year No camping facilities or boat ramps available. This is a new impoundment and has had no prior fishing pressure. It should have some nice holdover rainbow. Browne Lake: Located in the high alpine area of the Uinta Mountains, Browne Lake offers some of the best scenery around. Fishing is expected tu be fair for brook trout as well as rainbow. Pan sized trout can be taken from the stream below Good camping facilities are available. wwanwaw ponds. Little Brush Creek: The road into this area opens late; therefore, it probably will not be open for the June 3 opener. North Fork Duchesne River: This stream is expected to be high and roily for the opener, but will be stocked with rainbow as soon as water conditions permit. The jjonds near Defa's Ranch will be stocked prior to the opener and should provide good fishing. Excellent camping facilities are found along this stream. GREG CALL Republican, Gregory Jay Call, 792 West Shepard Lane, Farmington, announced his candidacy for Davis County recorder. MR, CALL was raised in Bountiful, attended Bountiful High where he held many important offices, including student body president. He attended the University of Utah and took many business related courses. Bullock Reservoir: Was chemically treated last year and restocked with rainbow catchables. No camping or boat launching facilities available Paradise Reservoir: This reservoir is expected to be snowed in for the opener so no fish will be stocked. Check with local information before IN many community programs, Mr. Call has been involved in service clubs and church affairs. He Cart Creek: Will be open to fishing upstream from its confluence with Speirs Creek. Will remain closed below this point until July 1. Water may be discolored because of some run off. Stream will be stocked with rainbow catchables for the opener. Improved campgrounds are available near the stream. Carter Creek: This stream will be stocked with rainbow catchables in the Deep Creek area as soon as the road is passable. This may not be before the opener so check on the conditions before traveling to upfier Carter Creek. This stream below Highway 44 is closed through June 30. Crouse Reservoir: Fishing is expected to be good for rainbow trout. There are no improved campgrounds in the area and most of the land is private, so take extra care in keeping the area free of litter. Future fishing privileges depend on it. Currant Creek: This stream opens July 1. Fishing is expected to be good for 12" cutthroat and brown trout as well as some catchable rainbow. It is expected to have a high run off. Improved access into the area will draw large crowds. There are limited campgrounds in the area. Duchesne River: This river is designed as a wild fish stream and receives no catchable fish. Brown, cutthroat and whitefish can be caught in the Duchesne River. Most of the area around this stream is private land so please respect it. East Park Reservoir: This reservoir is located along the Red Cloud Loop road and is accessible by paved road except for the last mile. Improved campgrounds are available and expect pan sized rainbow with an added treat of some nice brook trout. Weather permitting, this reservoir will be stocked prior to the opening weekend. Flaming Gorge Reservoir: This water presently holds the world record for the largest brown trout caught Fishing can be spotty, however, many large brown and lake trout have been taken during the spring months. Fishing has been quite slow for the rainbow trout. Several improved campgrounds are available to the angler as well as five boat ramps on the Utah side of the reservoir. A large crowd is expected on Memorial Day as well as the opener on June 3 year-roun- d Green River: This stream offers a variety of entertainment Float trips are growing more popular every year and fishing for rainbow catchables ian provide a good angling comexperience Cutthroat are also mon The modification of the penstock on the Flaming Gorge Dam will enhance the fishery as well as make the float trip more enjoyable A seven mile trail between the dam and Little Hole allows for easy fool access along the stream. Large rainbow are found in the lower stretches of the Green River between Little Hole and Brown's Park. Be sure to follow all safety precautions while floating the river. Pole Creek Lake: Will not be prior to the opener because of heavy snow in the area. When open, it will be stocked with rainbow trout. Red Creek Reservoir: This reservoir will not be open until July 1 at which time fishing is expected to be good. There are no facilities. Rock Creek: Will be stocked with rainbow catchables. Brook and cutthroat are present from natural reproduction. No access problems. Sheep Creek Lake: Will not be stocked because of the wild cutthroat population. Roads should be dry with no particular access problem. No camping facilities available Sheep Creek: The creek will be open to fishing on June 3 in that portion above Highway 44. The section below Highway 44 will remain closed through June 30. Will be stocked with rainbow when water level goes down. Campgrounds and roads are expected to be in good condition. South Fork Ashley Creek: This stream will be high and murkey on the opener. Rainbow will be stocked when the water clears and the road is open. to Spirit Lake may not be open for the opening weekend. Therefore, it will be stocked at a later time. Starvation Reservoir: A large crowd is expected at Starvation Reservoir this year. Improved camping facilities and boat ramps await the angler. Rainbow, brown and lake trout will provide excitement for the entire family. Steinaker Reservoir: Rainbow, browns and bass will be harvested at Steinqker Reservoir on the opening weekend. The lake is stocked with fmgerhngs. Therefore, the fish are holdovers. There are some nice trout m the '4 pound class but fishing is expected to be slow. Fishing for bass is expected to be fair. There is a state park at the reservoir and plenty of good camping facilities are available.
