THE UTAH High School Rodeo Association has been established to promote the development of sports- S H cmtM.o PLUS vtj manship, horsemanship, and character in our states youth. It is a fact that the state of Utah ranks first among the fifty states in the average number of school years completed (12.2 percent); percentage of high school graduates and total population (55.8 percent); and the percentage of eighteen to twenty-on- e year olds attending schools of higher learning (74 percent). HOWEVER, A fact not known by many; is that Utah holds the second highest membership in the High School Rodeo Association next mn j CO-HI- T Franco Zeffirelli tWertweof Romeo JULIET Killer at 7:15 Romeo at 9:30 to Colorado. Utah also has more youth qualifying for shows than 28 """""""" other states and three providences in Canada. ADDITIONALLY, it is a fact that last year in the National High School Rodeo Finals, Utah placed first in placed as first runner-u- p to All Around Cowboy. Our Utah High School Rodeo Queen placed second runner-u- p to the National High School Rodeo Queen, and Utah won the Grand Entry Trophy. Bull-Ridin- WE HAVE many youth within the state of Utah, who are qualified; and desirous to attend the National High School Rodeo Competition; which will be held in Sulphur, La. on Aug. 1. THE NATIONAL Competition consists of one full week of competitiveness between contestants. The state of Utah had 35 youth qualified to attend the National finals last year; with hopes to have more this year. The High School Rodeo Association has not attained the popularity that is given to many other sporting events. We find that many youth who would like to participate in the age old American Rodeo Tradition lack the funds required to represent the state of Utah in the National 00 Calls After nearly three months of operation, the United Way sponsored Davis County Information & Referral Service is receiving well over 100 calls a month. Of the 119 calls received last month, 52 required information only 67 while necessitated referrals to appropriate agencies or individuals.
