For more information, call 395-3482. •Asian Film Festival featuring the movie "Blind Shaft" (2003); MOSCOW The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Thursday that it would continue paying for the 7,400 hotel rooms in Louisiana and Mississippi occupied by Hurricane Katrina evacuees until March l3. The federal government will pay for the evacuees' hotel rooms in other states until March 1. FEMA extended the deadline because of a lack of housing in Louisiana and Mississippi. The roof of one of the city's biggest markets collapsed Thursday. At least 56 people were killed and 32 injured. Emergency officials think more than 100 people were in the market at the time of the incident. They were relieved the roof collapsed when it did because more people could have been in the market later in the day; Thursday is the beginning of the three-day Defenders of the Fatherland Day celebration which honors Russia's armed forces. Investigators believe the roof collapsed because of heavy snow, design flaws or poor maintenance. ROSEBURG,ORE. A teenager shot a student at £oseburg High School Thursday morning. After the shooting, the teenager ran to a restaurant and surrendered. He appeared to be a student, police said. The victim was shot twice in the abdomen, once in the chest and a bullet grazed his left elbow. He was critically wounded, but the hospital CEO said he was doing well. The motive hasn't been determined. NEW YORK A biomedical supply house and three other men were indicted for selling body parts of dead people to be used in transplants. The corpses were obtained from funeral parlors in three states. The defendants forged death certificates and organ donor consent forms to make the organs appear legally removed. The men have made millions of dollars from the scam, prosecutors said. The defendants removed organs from people who had not consented to donation and those who were too old or sick to donate. Some fear the falsely removed organs could spread disease to transplant recipients.
