In a study prepared for the Classes must be dropped before Feb. 14 deadline Deadline for students to drop classes at Weber State College is Feb. 14. Students must go to the registration office in the Administration Building and see that the class is dropped off his official registration. A "W" will appear on his transcript for all classes dropped. Up until this year classes could be dropped up until the last two weeks in the quarter, but changes in the registration policy moved the deadline up sooner in the quarter. Students may still apply for the creditno credit option for a class. Deadline for signing up for the creditno credit option is Jan. 30. Standards of Displicinary Proceedings: Authorities of educational institutions have the inherent responsiblity to protect the educational purposes of their institutions by regulating the use of their facilities and by setting standards of conduct and scholarship for the students who attend them. To develop responsible student conduct; counseling, guidance, admonition and example, as well as disciplinary proceedings will be used. Proper procedural safeguards are observed to protect students from the imposition of unfair penalties. A. Standards of Conduct. It is the student's obligation to conduct himself as a responsible citizen, to abide by the college's stated rules and regulations, and to express either assenting or dissenting opinions in an orderly manner. Copies of the report have been forwarded to 480 college presidents across the nation. Young questioned the legal status of campus rules requiring undergraduates to live in dorms and obey curfew hours and suggested schools may be forced to stop acting in loco parentis. Similarly, university regulations of campus organizations, clubs, publications, fraternities and sororities are subject to change. Trouble spots According to the study, developing trouble spots include: students establishing residence to obtain lower tuition at state schools, the validity of awarding scholarships based on parential income and the question of legal justification for mailing grades or disciplinary action notices to parents. In addition to raising these questions, students who have attained the age of majority will have the right to bring suit against universities in an attempt to cope with other traditional tenant taste and to the comfort of the guests. These will be regulated by the judgment of those in charge according to the location or nature of the social event or gathering. Guests on the campus are expected to j)bserve these social standards. Those responsible for the invitation should inform the guest of the conduct expected and assume responsibility for the conduct of the guests. College social standards are never suspended, but are in operation throughout the entire college year. The college expects all students to conduct themselves according to the standards of good society.
