All who attended the Sweetheart YTall will agree that it was one of the most successful dances-Many thanks to Mr. Shrecvc for the beautiful plant arrangements and to all the others who contributed their time, efforts and money to the dance. , After an evening of dancing, the members of O-T. and Excels and their dates met at Graycliff for an early morning dinner of friend chicken and shrimp. LAMBDA DELTA SIGMA Announcement of Inter-chapter Officers for the ensuing year in Lambda Delta Sigma were made Thursday, Feb- 21, at the annual election banquet at the Terrace Second Ward. Spearheading next year's activities ' are Ron Dean, president; Robert Gibby, social vice president; Kathy Morgan, pledge vice president; Mary Sue Stallings, service vice president; Kathy Williams, secretary; Frank Brown, treasurer; and Annette Read, historian. With these officers we look forward to a progressive year. To the outgoing officers, a big "Thanks." SHARMEA Farmer Brown and his mob will be moving from their barn on March 1 to make way for the straw flying, squaredancing hoe-down between the Pink Ladies and Phoenix birdmen. We would like to welcome Linda Stuhse who was made a pledge at our membership banquet recently. She has been elected frosh representative to Intcrclub- Le-Ann Frisbey has also been elected sophomore WIA representative. The freshmen are sponsoring a car wash this Saturday at the Mount Ogdcn Station. All cars and students are invited toattend. TAKAI KYOTO The "Music Man" was the thing at Weber College this week. The top notch cast with its zany antics and the delightful tunes made this event worth seeing. Congratulations to Vickie Hug-gins and Steve Jones, Sweetheart winners at the ball last weekend. T.K. honored her new members at an initiation party last weekend. Tt was well attended, and our membership banquet is being planned for the near future. LADIANAEDA The L.D. -Excels party was a great one. Grubs, pizza, and twisting provided the atmosphere as Arnie Garr turned out to be one of Exccl's best twisters. One casualty occurred. Ruth Austad threw her knee out while jumping around- Last Friday was the establishing of the annual Phoenix-L.D. masquerade party. The top prizes went to Sharon Cottle who came as Bonnie Lassie and to Martin Robinette who came as Zelda Zortch. SIGMA Members have anxiously been waiting to receive their annual notice of achievement from the Dean of Men. Due to the high grades that were received last quarter, it has taken five weeks to arrive at a club average. Everybody was surprised to learn that the average was a high 2.1, which shows that we are all studying hard. All students should begin thinking about the costume they are going to wear to the ' SUPPRESSED DESIRE" dance which will be held in March. This dance is always one of the most lively of the vcar. By LeRoy Yorgason STAIRS, an 'art exhibition presenting outstanding examples of steps and ramps, will go on display at the Weber-College Union Building on March 9 and remain on view until March 30, Mr. J. Farrell Shepherd, director, said today. An all orchestral concert by the Utah Symphony Orchestra will be presented in the Ogden High School auditorium Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. Dean Allen A petition for a two-session summer school was submitted to Dean of Students Merle Allen on Monday. It is estimated by backers of the movement that some three hundred Weber State students had signed the petition. Backers expressed their hope to Dr. Allen that the matter be given immediate consideration, so that plans for a two-session school could be made for this summer if possible.Dr. Allen assured petitioners that the petition would "get into the hands of the right people". The orchestra, under the baton of Maurice Abravanel, will play Mozart's "Symphony No. 39 in F. Flat Major" and "Polovetzian Dances from 'Prince Igor' " by Borodin. The remainder of the evening will be devoted to three compositions by Wagner. These include "Meistersinger: Prelude to Act III, Dance of the Apprentices, and Procession of the Masters," "Tristan and Isolde: Prelude and Love's Death," and concluding with "Overture to 'Rienzi' ." Tickets will be available to students free of charge at the Treasurer's Office Friday through Tuesday. POST SCRIPTS Tryouts Given Tryouts for the final arena production "The Rainmaker" to be directed by Therald Todd will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. in Room 413. The production has parts for 5 men and 1 woman. All interested students arc urged to try out regardless of previousexperience Exhibit Shown A cultural exhibit sponsored by the Cosmopolitan Cultural Club is now on review in Room106-108-There are items from twenty countries and the purpose is to further the understanding of people and countries- Andrew Zane is chairman of the exhibit. |
