Alpha Rho "What a ball!" That's the only comment for Alpha Rho's hectic Christmas season. Two parties, including a dance frolic complete with "insulated" punch (apologies to Carolyn Handley) and a tobogganing brawl, with those ever-loving gals of Sharmea; plus amistletoe-and-game party with the coy maids of Chanodo; and the holiday was complete. Announcing our new officers for the Winter Quarter: President, Tim Gwyther; vice president: Keith Jones; Secretary: Robin Tucker; Treasurer: Giant Jenson. Keith resigned his presidency this tenn to catch up on his grades, but we say this: He's done a great job this past term, keeping the club right in the middle of things, and he deserves .a big thanks from all the club. Coming up next on our schedule is shudder Hell Week. We've got gobs of new ideas for the hapless freshmen to try out on themselves, besides those same good ones that were used on us last year. Don't fret, freshman, you'll get your chance a year from now. Sharmea The long week-end was certainly enjoyed by the Pink Ladies who had several parties, besides two club parties that were just lots of fun. The Christmas party was held at the Cream o' Weber auditorium with the pledges playing hostesses. After the games and treasm-e hunt a good dinner and a miniature Santa - topped off the evening. At the party with Alpho Rho everyone had fun sliding down the hill and trying to keep from breaking their legs. Dancing in the lodge and good food made the bumps and bruises feel much better. Now all the members are anticipating Hell Week and looking forward with fiendish glee when they can get back at their little sisters to make up for what they went through last year. Sigma A word of warning to the new on campus: Prepare yourself for the take off. On February ?., we hope everybody will be taking off their clothes and putting on their pajamas or nighties for the biggest ball of the year Sigma's annual "Nightmare Dance." What better opportunity could ENJOY STEAKS BAKED HAM BAKED CHICKEN PRIME RIB BREADED VEAL or a VARIETY of FINE SEAFOODS BRATTEN'S GROTTO 3376 Harrison "We Will Be Happy to Serve You Anytime Between 12 Noon and 10 P.M." With the holidays over the L. D. Swabbies have settled down for winter quarter and "hell week." We wish to thank our pledges for the fun Christmas party. This was their first real assignment and was very well done. Congratulations committees and pledge president Karen Neuenshwander. Joan Rees came back to school after the holidays and the sparkle in her eyes was just as bright as the sparkle on her finger. Joan's days are numbered now, she's engaged. The dreaded week is coming! Attention all you mean pledges. Prepare yourselves for what is coming. Have you been shafting your big sister lately? Stepping out with her boyfriend? If so be careful! Because her week is coming. you have to see what your future mate will look like eight hours of every married day? Plan now to attend in your evening colthes very late in the evening clothes. Excelsior Club "We ain't what we used ta be," is the E club's new theme. With the selection of this year's junior members the Excels men have broken a long tradition of athletic domination. The paper is hereby posted that not only the intramural trophy is on E hunting grounds from now on, but any trophy or award in any field. Representing almost any skill, from music to hand-painting ties the 47 new members are ready to step into any competition or project.Speaking of new membei-s, it seems they have stepped into a hurricane as far as E men activities are concerned. Excelsior now has on the fire more dances, parties and projects than the town drunk has blue snakes and pink elephants. Leading the list of dances is the Malefic at the Old Mill 0 p. m., Friday thirteenth. February fourth is the annual Excelsior-Otyokwa Sweetheart ball. Sometime in the spring Excels is planning the dance that should top anything seen in Utah since Brig-ham Young took his 47 wives on a second honeymoon. Otyokwa The Otyokwa members are looking anxiously forward, along with their brother club, Excelsior, to our big Sweetheart Ball, which will be sponsored, February 4, at the White City Ballroom. It is probably the one most important activity, which we sponsor during the year. The most important aspect of the dance will be the selection of the Sweethearts which will be chosen by Hollywood celebrities and announced at intermission of the dance. Our congratulations are extended to the cute members of our tribe who have been chosen by Excels to represent them and run as candidates for sweetheart. Good luck to those fortunate girls who got engaged during the holidays, Fairel Anderson, Nancy Fowles, Joyce Massey, Arlene Baron, and Pat Duke. Chanodo Santa was good to us, especially Eleanor Clay who received a diamond. Most of us slept in every morning during the holidays except the unlucky (?) ones who worked. Now we're back in the swing busily making preparations for the Talent Show next month. Also we are starting plans for the assembly and the dance. The Orchid Ball, sponsored by A. M. S. and A. W. S. is a big must on our calendars. We are supporting it 100. The Freshmen can look forward to Frivolous and Hell Week. Frivolous is January 18 and Hell Week is the week of January 23. The reason for this is, the sophomores have had their heads together all during the holidays thinking of evil deeds. The frosh don't know what they're in for! News Notes of National Interest Greta Barton is still trying to recover from the shock given her by Darwin Van De Graaff when he noticed her tip-toeing into the Library after her one-quartervacation. Allen Fleming (Big Flem) seems to be having trouble delivering his papers. Midnight to 6 a. m. is hardly the time to spend wrapping them in the middle of 30th street. ANNOUNCING!!
