L.D. congratulates and welcomes these bootcamp Sailors aboard the U.S.S.L.D. Thanks, Frosh for the beautiful .and delicious cake last week in club. In reply to last week's various oomments on my articles, there is only one thing- to say. It's certainly nice to know your columns are read by so many on campus. If that many people are concerned about L.D.'s articles, either the news is good or the activities of LaDianaeda are widely interesting. In either case, thanks for the recognition. Thanks also to Phoenix for the presentation of flowers a week ago in club and for the thoughtful telegram at our Acceptance Tea. Congratulations to L.D. beauties Ileen Wayment, Linda Allen, Karen Bickmore, Dixie Childs, Penny Christofferson, and Sally Rhees for being selected candidates for Snowball Queen. Password for tonight: I came to do Evil! Phoenix Shines With Twenty-nine By Larry Peer It appears that Phoenix is on top again, as usual, after seeing those Weber College students who became members of the birdmen at the acceptance banquet. Twenty-nine great guys took the oath of individualism and pledged to support Weber College and Phoenix Fraternity. After this the freshmen officers were elected. Dale Child will serve as freshman president of Phoenix, with Frank Markos as representa tive to AMS and Steve Bott as representative to Interclub Council.Kent Van De Graaff will serve as "club joker" Jon Jensen will serve at "top Chemistry Scrud," and Kenny Stoker will aid Pete DeHart as "official mouthpiece of Phoenix." Plans for the "Snowball" have long been complete and are in the process of being put into effect. Tickets for this top affair of this quarter may be purchased from any member of Phoenix. A stereo hi-fi will be given away .as top door prize, so get your tickets and be there. Candidates for Phoenix Snowball Queen are Linda Allen, Penny Christofferson, Sally Rhees, Ileen Wayment, Dixie Child, Karen Bickmore. Just wanted to say to Alfred E. that I enjoyed his column last issue. It is certainly good to hear you defending your actions rather than having- your club report in O.T.'s column. Sommers must be the matronly type. She makes a good den mother for the green. Goish fellas, support the "Lark," the basketball team, and everything. Phoenix will be there. Till next week remember, "Nikita used to be conceited, but now he is perfect." Sydney Gynt. P.S. Great party with T.K., turned into a riot. Didn't know that Cheryl could Ice-Skate in a kimona. Squaws A Plenty Seven & Twenty By Carolyn Sommers '"-vs At O.T.'s Accep- , ' tance Tea, held , Nov. 2 0th at 5 . chief Linda Stro-' mberg's home 'h? ' the squaws en-thusiasticaly welcomed twenty-seven new pled- ges into the club These girls will Miss Sommers take official oath at a pledge ceremony and banquet which will be held this Sunday night. Membership oaths will be taken in January. We congratulate all of the clubs on their choice of members. Wednesday night the squaws and the Sigma men took to the hills for a real old fashioned hayride, Everyone had lots of fun except Alf Shaw, who spent the evening trying to decide" between one and number four. Thanks, men, for a great party. Last week we elected freshman representatives to various student organizations. Cheri Jensen was chosen W.I.A. representative, Ann Stephens is our representative to Interclub, and Mary Malan and Chara Dene Pilkington will serve on the A.W.S. Council. Congratulations to these girls on their newly acquired positions. With football season over, Oty-okwa "wild l'ke to compliment not only the team on their successes, but also Karin Borklund, Colleen captain, for some outstanding half-time drills, and the cheerleaders, for their tireless efforts. Let's band together during basketball season to show these people some real support. Hope to se.' everyone at the Malefic tonight sponsored by our forgetful, but FABULOUS brother club, Excels. Congrats, Team; Real Fine Game By Gordon Affleck ' Phil Palmer pur- """v chased 10 tons of ; hay for the hay i ride with O.T. He says that the girls got hungry after the ride. ; Dave Denkers asked me to . mention him in the f column. He wants Mr. Affleck everybody to know that he owes me five dollars. Congratulations to the men who won the cross country. Sigma's team placed first for the second year in a row. Elizabeth Peterson and Dienna Champneys got mad at me. I told them they were insecure and cliquish. They got together with all their friends to prove that they weren't. At the alumni game Sigma was the only club a campus to salute Allen Holmes. Congratulations to the team for a good game. I hope in all sincerity that no one chokes on their thanksgiving Dinner. Excels needs their presence at the Snowball. P.S. Dcn't support the . . . . Fred Peabody So Happy To Say Barbells All Gone By Miss Monk Bonjour! Nous les iaimons beaucoup!! Ah yes, we now have our quota membership, and are we ever proud of our nineteen pledges. All of them are listed on our pink scroll in capital letters. But after adding our names up much to our surprise, we discovered that there may be some confusion for awhile because there are many of the same names. Janice Clark and Janice Thomas, Joyce' Burnett and Joyce Eldredge, Carole Fisher and Card Sutton, Suzanne Cornia and Suzanne Dickson and Garolyn Criddle and Carolyn Barlow have been added to our old twinners; Ruth Carlsen and Ruth Walsh (whom we now calL "Rags.") Miss Monk We have two sets of triplets: Judy Davidson, Judy McDonald and Judy Van Drim-melen and Karen Zaugg and Karen Winterbottom Freshman girls elected to offices were Suzanne Cornia, WIA rep resentative; Carolyn Criddle and Carol Sutton, AWS representative to interclmb. Patti Meikle (a sophomore) and Gwen Foley were the members of Sharmea whose names were entered as candidates for l-he judiciary council. Karen Winterbottom is wearing a circlet of diamonds again but on her finger this time. The credit for her sparkle goes to the mighty Sigma man, Lynn Hadfield. Next Wednesday we are staging our pledge banquet. Our pledges will be officially sworn in (not at) and will receive their gold targets to wear until they become full fedged members. Their officers will be announced then. Congratulations to the basketball team! Great things are ahead. Rumors have it that Excels Malefic will be terrific. Lets support it and make the rumors facts. Until next week .... A tout a l'heure. Les Francais. P.S. Certain people have been seeing hallucinations . . . pink barbells everywhere. We'd try to oblige them, "but ours wore out a long time ago. So the w0rd is: Be careful or little men with white coats will be mingling with the gray blazers on campus. Chopstick Clan; Birdmen Party By Cheryl Paxton Ah So, Velly much approve of the amel-ican idea of study in groups. We don't accomplish very much but we accomplish .... Our tea house is fully staffed now and we rolled back the rice paper panels Wednesday at 7:00 to enjoy a fine party with Phoenix. ' A good time was had by all even if Peer did apear late. We would like to congratulate Excels for not leaning on the Teepee any longer . . . and for their typical showing in interclub. Our party with Sigma looks like a real ripsnorter (we may not have any panels left). I, the great, . . . see where the theme from "the Apt." is getting through to Sigma (in general). We would like to end our column with an old Japanese greeting to all the Frosh who became pledges . . . but the type writer doesn't speakee the language! So as before, I will say be refreshed. (But with Tooly .around .vho needs to worry, eh K.K.,) The state of Arizona has voted for the winner in every presidential election since its admission into the union in 1912. |
