Show "Masque" Termed Tremendous Flew and Old Actors Showed We!! By Al Fleming As most of you know, Arena Theater produced "Masque of Kings" as their winter quarter's contribution to the threatical world. H.E.D. Redford again directed it with Kay Knight assisting. In this writer's opinion this play was probably one of the most outstanding that Weber College will ever produce and all of those who didn't see it certainly missed something that was very worth while and lasting. The play was based on true facts about the reign of Francz Joseph, emporer of Austria and his dealings with his son, Prince Rudolph. The play was excellently cast with some of the Arena's old standby's Darwin Van De Graaff and Sharon Wallace playing Francz Joseph and his wife, the Emperess. This quarter's play introduced several newcomers to the Arena with Dick Kingston, Hal Stephens', Lisle Anderson, Patsy Seegmiller, Kent Peterson, Marilyn Swaner and .Larry Chandler. The lead was shared by Darwin Van De Graaff and Dick Kings ton. Kingston in his debut in the Arena did an excellent job. At the end where he and his sweetheart were killed, the appeal to the audience was so great that sev-ral people about were sniffling and a watery gleam came to some others' eyes. Ronald Hall in the part of Koin-off, the traitor, was one of the most convincing actors of the night. He was cast as the mediator between Prince Rudolph and Francz Joseph in an attempt to overthrow the latter. As the play proceeded and the action became more intense, a great deal rested upon his character to lift and carry the audience, as a good play should do, and he did a very commendable job. Kent Peterson, along with Lisle Anderson, Hal Stephens and Larry Chandler in their roles of Austrian noblemen, also did very well. Marge Sudweeks, who sat back as assistant director in last quarter's play, was cast as Mary Vet-sera, the sweetheart of Prince Rudolph. She did a stirring job and in the final scene where she appears in a black negligee the audience, along with myself, were deeply impressed. Also doing fine work was Marilyn Swaner as the Baron Von Neustadt, Patsy Seegmiller as the girl and Bob Stromberg in the role of the servant. Congratulations are in order to all who had anything to do with this production and I'm sure all who saw it felt like their time was indeed, well spent. Student Talk is Favorable About New 'TUB' Student comment on the new "TUB" has run from high praise of the musical atmosphere to a criticism of its intramural shortcomings. The "Brubeek" type jazz played every noon has impressed many, Lee Parks typified with this remark, "Man! I'll never get anything done, now." Larry Chandler rhythmized, "A real cute show pad, dad, but not enough room for my broom." This characterized the new trend of Jazz And Juke Box, To the unbooted it means the College Annex is nonexistent; we have hei'e a "Bob Shop" andor "Hot Shot Haven." Bud Nickerson and Claudia Mc-Millen apparently collaborated on this thought provoking statement, "I like it." Kent Ellis took the materialist point of view saying, "It's nice on the inside, but when are they going to paint it?" The food is either very good or very poisonous since no one mentioned it. Intramural enthusiast, Ralph Mc-Intire, had only comment, "Where's the pool tables?" "Shep" must have overheard, cause he was inquiring about obtaining a pool table last week. The requirements for TUB class are a Brubeek billiard cue with broom bristles afixed. Weber Social Scene Be Sure to See "Blossom Time" WEBER OFFICE SUPPLY 2432 Wash. Congratulations to members, Dick Webber and Ernie Knowles for their victories in the College Ski Meet, (we could have used you in IM's) Dick Nicholas, Ernie Knowles (again) and Maurice Smith for your selections to compete for Chanodo's Robin Hood. Big things are happening tonight at Sam's Alibi when the exclusive, invitation only, suppressed desire, costume party gets under way. DOESN'T TAKE MUCH With the increased number of inhabitants in the college lounge, (or TUB or PX), a lack of trash cans outside and of care on the part of the students has caused an influx of litter around the grounds. A little care can preserve the looks of the campus and still leave the new addition as enjoyable as it now is. DEAL! DEAL! EVERYONE WANTS A DEAL OKEH, HOW'S THIS? Barbara Wadman, one of our tribesmen, is huffing and puffing right along beside her classmates in the college track class, headed by "Andy". We all wish you good luck going over the hurdles, Barb. Two members of our tribe are making a good showing for themselves on the college drill team which consists of twelve freshmen girls. We're proud to have Sheryl Jensen and Barbara Wadman represent us in such a terrific outfit. Good work, gals! The squaws want to welcome Gayle Froerer who has been away on a debate trip. Hope you had a ball, gal. The squaws also send their best wishes to a former squaw, Fairel Anderson who is now a Mrs. Best wishes for a very happy life, Fairel. Conglomeration Because there is a shortage of space this issue it was necessary to leave out several of the stories handed in by the club reporters. Phoenix, Chanodo, Sharmea and Excelsior, all had news and as usual, it was tops. However, we will remind everyone of Chanodo's Dance the ICth, Phoenix's winning of the basketball boxing, Excel's victory in the intramural ski meet, and Sharmea's relief after then-assembly.The Social Committee's Dinner Dance was a howling success last Friday, and the committee under the direction of Monty Shupe is to be commended. La Dianaeda The L. D. Swabbies are enjoying the excitment of Spring quarter registration. Spring quarter meaning the big quarter as far as they are concerned because they'll be concentrating on Easter activities. All ready committees have been formed and work is going, "full speed ahead." Spring quarter will also give us a chance to display some more athletic ability in baseball and tennis intramurals. The Sailors had a great time with " the "E" men at the swimming party. Dixie Burnett got the best of a water fight, she was just a little bit ounumbered by the male population, or her chances would have been' much stronger. It isn't uncommon to see most of the clan lounching around the tub ( temporary union building) about noon time, this added convenience is really enjoyed by all of us. With the beginning of this new quarter were looking forward to many more great parties and of course, a full agenda. Alpha Rho Well, it's that time again we have to bore the readers with the club news. These last couple of weeks Alpha Rho's been busier'n the Brink's bandists, putting over our money raising project of the year The Smokeless Smoker. Despite apprehensions, the Smoker was a big success. Fifteen bouts were run off, with a record number of knockouts for the event. We cleaned up on it, too. Although our figures haven't been checked yet, we figure we made a little over $200.00. Now, with the worthy over with, we Blue Knights' can relax, take it easy, and have what we are notorious for parties.
