'Twas a lovely morning in early May, When I started from my home to stray. I saw a little boy so grand, And I just couldn't understand Why he was running quite so hard, And his quickening footsteps I could not retard. So I buttoned my coat, and hastened my gait, And determined to discover why he was late. As he swung his arms, he dropped his books, When he turned around, we exchanged quick looks, And, lo! I discovered I'd found a great task For I was following one who was late for class. T I is gems of literature I helped get together, And we hurried on inspired by the weather. We arrived at his school after a walk sublime, And I found the juniors having the neck, of a time; They were singing and dancing all filled with joy, There was Vilate and Joe, and Russ and Roy. It's been many a day since I've seen such pep; And there is never a class that can beat them yet. For around them the freshies feel unnecessary And the seniors realize they can never tarry; The sophies look up and respect them with awe; And all their debator.s the medal draw; So here, in conclusion, Let me make an illusion: Yoh'11 have to step fast To beat the junior class! Has it ever occurred to you that no one ever repeated a scandalous story with a good purposes? M. P. SOPHS' SOFT SOAP Absolute knowledge have I none, But my aunt's washerwoman's sister's son-Heard Policeman Blackburn on his beat Tell a laborer on the street That he had a letter just last' week Written in the finest Greek From, a Weber alumnus in Timbuctoo, Who said that the negroes in lower Ogden knew Of a colored man in a Texas town Who got it straight from a circus clown, That a man in Klondike heard the news From a band of pious Salt Lake Jews About somebody in Borneo Who heard a man who claimed to know A swell society female fake Whose mother-in-law will undertake To prove that her seventh husband's sister's niece Stated in a printed piece That he had a son who had a friend That knows of a sophomore class out west That is rated by Fords as the very best. 'Che WEBER FLORAL Thone FOUR-ONE-0 - GREENHOUSE, 740 28th St. Mr. Caurence Haddock, former graduate of Weber, leaves this month on a msision for the Mormon cnurch. He is to labor in the southern states. Vivian Pickett, former student, now connected with the naval training station band at San Francisco, paid Weber a short vsit recently. Vera Pickett, twin brother, has been honorably, discharged from Battery B on account of physical disability. Another name was added to Weber's honor roll last week when Paul Wardliegh, former student, enlisted in the aviation department of the U. S. navy. SEE ANDREW KASIUS AS A COUNTRY CONSTABLE MARCH 8. Representatives of the faculty and student body attended the funeral of Henry Barker, father of our former principal and professor, James L. Barker. They expressed the sympathy and condolence of every memDer of Weber in Prof. Barker's bereavement. If the B. E. H. S. at Brighani desired a copy of our yell book we will be pleased to forward the same. There are still a few Weber yells that they haven't taken over yet. SEE DOUG LEISHMAN FORCED INTO MARRIAGE PROF. PEPP MARCH 8. The tie between B. E. H. S. and S. C. H. S. for the northern division championship might be played off on our floor early next week The O. H. S. Juniors are to present, soon, a play caled "Over Here." The cast will include a number of those participating in the sophomore "Can Can" of last year. Dave Peterson, member of last year's basket ball squad, starred for B. Y. TJ. against the U. of U. last Saturday. Coach Watson refereed the game. The college class is not represented in this issue. The joke comes, however, when you think of the class. Why not appoint a reporter, ye lovers cf labor? Rumors" are afloat about school to the effect that the engagement of Prof. Kasius and Miss Katherine Volker is about to be announced. How about it, "Pete." O. K. Winters, graduate of class '14 and brother to Czar Winters, secretary of our student body, left last Monday for Washington to enter the service of Uncle Sam. The B. Y. U. will present their play, "Green Stockings," in the very near future. Watch for the date and help show our appreciation for tneir hearty support of "Strongheart."
