AY5 Schedules Banquet May 10 Associated Women Students of Weber college are making plans for their annual Recognition Banquet, to be held May 10, at the Hotel Ben Lomond at 7:00 p.m. This affair is formal and all girls on the campus, are invited. Tickets are now on sale. The Recognition Banquet is held each year in honor of all girls who have been outstanding in any one of the following fields; speech, music, drama, sports, friendship, art, scholarship, and publications. New officers for the year 1950-51 will also be announced. Shirley Corkey will act as toast mistress with various girls assisting her in giving the toasts. The girls are: Glenna Corey, Renee Glover, Georgia Smith, Gloris Murphy, Laura Carr, Yamska Kato, Margie Pratt, Carol Wright, Helen Messerly, Jean Petterson, Jean Reynolds, Lora Lee Marshall, Shirley Hillis, Amy Johnson. Officers in charge are: Gerrie Reese, Pat Pollard, Jo Anne Clifton, Diane Jones, Shirley Dean, Miss Mae Welling is advisor. Officers Elected At W. A. A. Banquet Presentation of the president's gavel to Amy Johnston was the highlight of the Women's Athletic Association banquet, on April 26. The banquet, an annual affair, was held to honor Weber's top women athletes and to present the newly chosen officers. Letters or achievement certifi-4 cates went to all-stars, team and sports managers, WAA officers, WAA council members and top ranking sophomores and freshmen. Top sophomores this year were Janet Knowles, Ardith McKay, Teresa Alford, Dean Morelli, Jean Wilson. Arlene Bambrough, Donna Olley, Joanne Milnar, Shirley Bowman, Jean' Reynolds, Clarabelle Connell, Delsa Davis, Joyce Herbert, and Beverly Barbiero. The five top freshmen were Barbara Burmingham, Carol Slater, Doris Martin, Amy Johnson, and Shirley Dallinga. ' In charge of the banquet was Carol, Slater with Louise Smith acting as toastmistress. Guest speakers were Coach R. K. Swenson, Mrs. Russell Petty and Pres. H. A. Dixon. One of the interesting sidelights of the banquet came after presentation of awards when Pres. Dixon challenged Carol Slater and Beverly Barbiero, first and second place winners in squash, to a squash match: ' Other officers chosen to serve with Amy next year were Carol Slater, Intramural manager, Jan Cooper, secretary and Joyce Stauf-fer, reporter. Sharmea At the conclusion of the main events of the year, members of Sharmea are trying to relax and enjoy the last few weeks of school with a number of parties on the agendia. Parties with Alpha Rho, Vikings, L.D., and Chanodo are in the making. Congratulations are in order to the members who played Softball and won the championship. Blvd. (UPSTAIRS) I Contests to Begin Next Tuesday Sadie Hawkins' Day has been officially set for next Tuesday at Weber college when Otyokwa presents its assembly followed by a foot race and a girls' choice matinee dance. "Skunk Holler Slide," a dance sponsored by Skull and Otyokwa, will be held May 12 at 9 p.m. in the Weber ballroom. Prizes will be awarded to the persons best dipicting Daisy Mae and Li'l Abner. 4 Newmans Name Weberite Sec. Additional honors were bestowed upon Weber College last week by the election of Miss Nedra Hart, part time student at Weber College, as Recording Secretary of the In-termountain Province of Newman Clubs at the convention held in Denver, April 21-23. Approximately 160 delegates representing 15 colleges and universities of the province which includes Wyoming, Colorado and Utah, were in attendance to report on various panels and committees and discuss such current topics as euthenasia and campaigns to fight indecent literature. The Newman Club of Weber College sent nine delegates Los Viajeros Scheduled by Los Viajeros for Thursday night, May 18 in the Weber college auditorium is the Spanish movie, "La Historia de un Gran Amor." ' Los Viajeros is planning a canyon party for May 21 with the language classes of Weber college. Invitations will be extended to high school Spanish classes. 1 7 rr. Marilyn Howard, one of Weber's charming girls, was chosen best dressed Co-ed Friday, April 28, and presented with a locket from Alpha Roe Omega, boys' club which sponsored the event. lota Iota held a house warming Friday, April 28 at the home of Norma Smith. All the club was invited and a good time was had by all. Plans are still being made for the final banquet at which the new officers will be announced. The Clint Anderson orchestra of Logan will be featured at the dance. Tickets will be 1.25 a couple. Chairmen in charge of the dance are Gwen Fronk and Duen Ferrin. In charge of the assembly is Ann Lund. Script was written by Jan Cooper, and costumes are by Joan Cluff and Lou Jean Allison. Immediately following the assembly the females of the student body will challenge the males to a race. Beginning the activities is a relay sack race, followed by a rope pulling contest between males and females. The grand event of the day is that of "The Greased Pig Race" named Salome. A representative from each club is chosen to represent their club in this race. The club who puts its hands upon the pig and keeps them there is given five dollars. The matinee dance will.be stag but girls' choice. The hot dogs and drinks will be purchased by the girls who are in hopes of becoming their Li'l Abner's Daisy Mae.
