Rusty Muir, also looked good in the dashes, finishing fourth in the 220 yard dash and third in the 440 yard run. Ted Martin Weber's consistent miler, finished a strong third in that event to help bolster the point total, and Jim Coleman came out of the pole vaulting pits with a fifth to conclude 'Cat wins for the day. The trophy is a gold loving cup, which is presented each year by Mr. Armstrong to that individual who is proclaimed as the outstanding intramural player of the year. The presentation was made on the annual Awards Assembly held last Friday. Christiansen was duly entitled to the honor, having participated in every activity on the intramural agenda since the curtain was raised last September. On top of this, Allen has served as athletic team manager for Sigma this year and has been an important factor in placing the club atop the intramural ladder. Besides playing ping pong and squash fall quarter, he ran at right half-back on Sigma's championship football team, doing a large part of of the passing and kicking. Allen's showing in basketball was outstanding. His long shots and drive ins were a constant threat to the opposing teams and his backboard work was uncanny. He followed second only to his team mate Paul Christiansen in total points garnered during the hoop season. In baseball he plugs the hole at shortstop and is a potential powerhouse at the plate. In last year's championship game between Sigma and Phoenix, Christiansen smashed out a last inning home run, which proved to be the deciding factor in the tilt. Having won his way into the quarter finals, Allen is now a favorite to snag honors in the intramural tennis jousts now being held. In the' track meet scheduled for next week he plans on entering the broad jump, the 440 yard dash, and possibly a relay. Besides the sports named above, Allen swam for Sigma's waterpolo team and was entered on a relay team in the swimming meet. Ray was presented with this honor by Al Warden and Leonard Diehl of the Standard-Examiner. Each year this paper picks an outstanding athlete and Ray follows in the footsteps of stars like Don Jesperson, Jack Thomas and Kenny Berrett. Rhead was chosen for this honor for his team spirit and sense for competition. He played end on the football team and one of Weber's chief ground gainers this year was the end-around with Rhead packing the leather. Track was his other sport of prowess. He participated in the broad jump and ran the century. In the BYU Invitational Rhead placed third in the 100 and third in the Broad Jump. In the Northern ICAC Track Meet at Rupert, Idaho he took third in the broad jump. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds. He comes to Weber from Morgan High where he was a four letter man starring in football, basketball, track and field and baseball. The award was presented to him during the Award Assembly. Sigma's annual sheepherder's stomp was really a staggering success. Or should I say stumbling. They weren't actually staggering; more of a concerntrated weave. They've still moping up Ann Lund's ears down at the Egyptian theater. Such a flow of dew drops as I've never witnessed before. 3 It Has Been a Pleasure To Work With Your Fine Signpost Staff ROYAL PORTABLE hAnrnnn MM Typewriter MM Co. 2375 Kiesel Phone 2-9633 Ogden, Utah All Popular Makes A COMPLETE LINE OF SHEAFFEKS PENS and PENCILS Weber Office Supply Office Supplies and School Supplies 2209 Wash.
