Farrell John Maw, Helen June Messerly, Susan Today winds up the first week of student-faculty volunteer labor on the new Weber College Campus. ' For the past seven days, groups of W.C students and faculty members have toiled sedulously with the desire to '"let everybody know where we're going." Daily groups have averaged between 20 and 30 studenis and no time nor effort have been wasted due to the foresighted organization of W.C. President, Dr. H. A Dixon, and the student Board of Control in working with the Student Volunteer coordinating committee, and helping with their selection and briefing of student and faculty group- leaders. Much leveling and filling has been accomplished preparatory to the landscaping and grass planting campaign which will get underway as soon as the leveling job is finished. Following a "conscription" assembly May 11, the cooperation of student individuals, groups, and clubs, has been commendable. When interviewed, Dr. Dixon said, "The movement (student volunteers) is growing bigger all the time". As anticipated, the State Board of Examiners early this week announced that an architect has been hired to design the buildings for fthe new college, preparatory to granting the requested $1,000,000 new building fund. The cooperative effort on the part of students in this volunteer program, college officials believe, will have profound effect on the state legislative groups whose approval and assistance will be necessary to successfully terminate the long campaign for both new facilities, and four-year status. Using the success of the movement thus far, as a "measuring stick", the effect should be very good. The job, however, is not yet complete, and success or failure lies yet in the future. f 5 v..
